Position Context:

Responsible for leading the legal team which advises client management on running various enterprise offshoring businesses in India and the Philippines. Particular duties will include (i) managing a team which supports client management on everyday business matters, including regulatory issues and contractual matters, (ii) advising on the legal aspects of client's expansion in India, and (iii) assisting in developing certain client's policies and procedures.

Main responsibilities

- Providing strategic legal advice to client management on matters including corporate and commercial law, employment law, Export Oriented Unit/Special Economic Zone regulations, foreign trade laws and other laws and regulations relevant to offshoring businesses in India.

- Leading a small team of lawyers located in India and the Philippines, and a U.S.-based lawyer with a matrix reporting line; managing the team effectively (people management including formal and informal mentoring).

- Managing legal risk, especially on regulatory compliance oversight (advising and working with Compliance Department) of client legal entities in India and the Philippines.

- Working collaboratively with compliance, finance and risk colleagues in India and in the U.S. on policies and procedures concerning the offshoring business, particularly on compliance and operational risk issues.

- Managing relationships with senior stakeholders and contributing to the delivery of high quality, timely client services.

- Representing client in any contentious matters or litigation (including in court) and negotiating matters to settlement.

- Working collaboratively with the client's Law Department in the U.S. and Hong Kong on complex contractual and transnational matters to ensure appropriate coordination.

- Managing all external counsel relationships and all related expenses for client in the region,

4. Qualifications/skills:

- Duly qualified lawyer admitted to practice law in India with a law degree from a recognized institution.

- A minimum of 12 years- experience practicing law with a reputable law firm and/or in the offshoring business services industry.

- Strong interpersonal skills; excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

- Demonstrated ability to provide effective client advice on complex legal issues in offshoring business matters.

- Ability to operate at a sophisticated level in large, complex, international companies.

- Flexible, adaptable and entrepreneurial approach able to cope with fast-moving environment.

- Good presentation and influencing skills; experience working with senior stakeholders preferred.

- Ability to manage projects and work with multi-disciplinary project teams.
