As head of Manufacturing Software (MSW) Mumbai you will establish and develop a manufacturing software capabilities centre enabling both global manufacturing software needs and regional delivery needs. Key initial functions are software engineering, quality engineering, and solution integration.

We provide manufacturing software capabilities that make us the best in the world in the fulfilment of mass-customised products. We partner with our global Manufacturing and Supply Chain organisation to design, develop and integrate an ecosystem of fulfilment software services that deliver to the Cimpress vision and strategy. Our responsibilities include software engineering, quality engineering, solution integration, program and project management, business analysis, post-merger integration, proprietary equipment software and systems design as well as third-tier technical support.

We have agile teams of developers creating the automation for our manufacturing plants. This manufacturing system uses highly advanced optimisation algorithms to process over 60,000 orders per day, consisting of 200,000 individually customised pieces in 70,000 shipments at 65% gross margins. Last year we served over 16 million customers, took more than 30 million orders, and produced over 82 million customised products.

Job description

- You will first build and grow a software engineering team from the ground up, instilling a lean, agile, and flexible mind-set and culture. The team will work on real-world problems where the technology problem is often defined by the incredible scale at which the solutions operate. Development in Cimpress, and MSW, is fast-paced, with new code released for production use every three weeks with the mid-term goal of achieving continuous deployment.

- You will work together with MSW program owners to extend their programs leadership, partnership and capabilities at a global and regional level. Once software engineering is established, we look to you to lead the development of regional and local expertise - to grow the organisation proportionally and represent the MSW organisation plus programs in the region (India, China, Japan, Australia, etc.) You and your team will provide regional leadership, partnership and initiative delivery, including manufacturing software project management and business analytics in region.

In this role you will:

- Hire, grow and lead a development team, including team leads, software engineers and quality engineers, who are responsible for portions of the Cimpress Manufacturing Software ecosystem.

- Build a manufacturing software capabilities hub that includes solution integration and delivery to global portfolio needs.

- Create a structured engineering environment, mentor and develop both managers and engineers, foster a working environment where top technology talent is attracted, developed and retained.

- Collaborate closely with global team and leaders to extend program leadership, partnership and delivery to roadmaps.

- Communicate with regional and local partners and key executives on manufacturing software capabilities, technology, and business needs.

- Demonstrate strong technical skills, the ability to understand the big picture of the codebase for complex functional areas, and to articulate a technical roadmap for future development.

In return you will bring:

- BTech or MTech in Computer Science, Systems Engineering or similar preferred

- Overall 10 years experience, with at least seven-plus years- leadership and management experience of enterprise-scale, custom software delivery. Proven track record of leading and growing a multi-disciplinary team

- Proven track record of leading and growing a multi-disciplinary team, identifying, developing, and retaining talented, high-potential people

- Strong global communication and collaboration skills including the ability to work with business partners, to understand and refine requirements, and articulate trade-offs, while instilling these qualities in the team

- Experience developing systems to support, systematise, and automate manufacturing production is desirable

- Ability to travel to interact with global development teams and support global user bases in the USA, Canada, Europe, Australia, Japan, and China

- Strong organisational skills. Ability to react and adapt quickly and autonomously in a fluid, ever-changing environment
