VP - Talent - Global Venture Capital firm
Hiring VP - Talent for a leading global venture capital firm for their India office ( based in Bangalore).
Our client is a leading global venture capital fund. They have been actively investing in technology-led businesses in India over the past decade. Their current portfolio comprises over 25 companies in India including a couple of big names from the startup industry , several category leaders in fintech, healthtech, D2C and SAAS.
They are an active investor and engage regularly with founders/CXOs of their portfolio companies on priority topics that are critical for scale-up. Talent acquisition is one such topic. Through their networks, they have helped fill several senior positions at these companies.
However, as the portfolio grows, they are keen to get a full-time resource on board to drive this initiative.
The VP - talent will play a key role in sourcing high-quality candidates for the portfolio companies. In addition, they will drive recruitment and compensation best practices across the portfolio. He/she will work closely with the investment team and founders/CXOs/TA Heads at the portfolio companies to achieve these outcomes.
Key deliverables will include :
- Building a talent pipeline for critical roles
- Mapping out key positions to be filled in the portfolio in the near-medium term
- Actively build a pipeline of candidates for various positions (e.g., CFO for IPO bound companies, Financial Controller for early-stage companies, Head Growth, Head BD, etc.)
- Shortlisting and interviewing candidates, recording feedback for future use
- Referring candidates to partners or portfolio companies when appropriate. Assist portfolio companies in close senior positions
- Work alongside TA head/CXOs at portfolio companies to fill open positions
- Build a network of connections with executive search firms, to enable us to recommend optimal search firm to use for a particular search
- Sourcing interesting profiles from the in-house pipeline and other sources (social media, hrtech portals/tools etc.)
- Engaging with high-quality/selected candidates to ensure closure of offer and eventual joining. Assist in other HR matters for portfolio companies
Desired Skills and experience :
- 8+ years of experience in talent acquisition/recruitment, preferably a mix of tech and non-tech leadership roles, at: an executive search firm with a focus on hiring for start-ups OR a part of the TA team at start-ups/tech ventures
- Significant and recent exposure to hiring for the technology sector/start-ups is a must
- Ability to roll up sleeves for execution - this is an IC role
- Strong networks in the TA ecosystem
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to drive outcomes independently, with minimal supervision
