Vice President - Portfolio Management

We are currently hiring for VC firm founded in 2020.

Overview:

- The Portfolio Manager will be responsible for overseeing and managing the performance of the portfolio companies. This role involves working closely with the portfolio companies' leadership teams to drive growth, ensure operational efficiency, and prepare for successful exits.

- The ideal candidate will have a strong background in venture capital/private equity or consulting, with a proven track record of managing and growing investments and should have been an entrepreneur themselves.

Responsibilities:

- Overall: Building the Portfolio Management Play book and executing it.

Portfolio Management:

- Oversee the performance of portfolio companies, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and investment objectives.

- Conduct regular performance reviews and provide feedback and recommendations to portfolio companies.

- Develop and implement strategies to optimize the growth and profitability of portfolio companies.

Strategic Support:

- Work closely with portfolio company leadership to develop and refine business strategies.

- Identify and support growth opportunities, market expansion, and new product launches.

- Provide strategic guidance on key operational areas, including marketing, sales, product development, and human resources.

Financial Oversight:

- Monitor financial performance and key metrics of portfolio companies.

- Assist in financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting for portfolio companies.

- Ensure effective financial controls and risk management practices are in place.

Board Representation:

- Serve as a board member or observer for portfolio companies as required.

- Provide strategic input and oversight during board meetings.

- Ensure effective governance and compliance with regulatory requirements.

Exit Planning:

- Collaborate with the growth and exit team to develop and execute exit strategies for portfolio companies.

- Assist in preparing companies for exit through IPOs, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), or secondary sales.

Market Analysis:

- Stay abreast of market trends, industry developments, and competitive dynamics.

- Provide insights and recommendations based on market analysis to inform portfolio company strategies.

- Continuously update knowledge of best practices and emerging trends in the VC ecosystem.

Qualifications:

- Bachelors degree in business, finance, economics, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.

- Minimum of 10-15 years of experience in venture capital, private equity, investment banking, or a related field with a serious entrepreneurial stint (~4 years)

- Proven track record of managing and growing investments in early-stage or growth-stage companies.

- Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills.

- Excellent financial modelling and valuation skills.

- Exceptional communication and presentation skills.

- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with portfolio company leadership and industry stakeholders.

- Experience serving on boards or in advisory roles is a plus.

- Willingness to travel as required.
