Vice President - Middle Office/Reconciliations - Financial Institution (12-15 yrs)

Our client is a leading financial institution seeking for an experienced individual for Vice President - Middle office/ Reconciliations.

Some of the key responsibilities will include:

- Be able to lead and help embed the Middle Office strategy which includes:

- Optimized Trade Controls and Lifecycle Management on Strategic platforms

- Drive toward standardization of T0 End of Day controls which includes resolution of data quality issues on T0

- Embedding IB Data governance and data quality practices into BAU

- Support Reg change, Technology Strategy and Business growth

- Reduction of Manual Processing and reconciliation

- Managing process performance in line with agreed service levels and targets. Drive a culture of continuous improvement.

- Maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders within BANK and related customer business areas.

- To be accountable for the aggregate plan and delivery of systems, operations and general operating model in-country

- Manager critical risk mitigation functions, responsible for safeguarding credit and reputational risk via the management of collateralized trading relationships.

Key Accountabilities :

- Primary point of contact for Middle office stakeholders from onshore teams, or any of the Markets Trading/ Sales, COO leadership team, Audit, Legal, Tax or other teams

- Partner with global counterparts and to be the business partner to peer infrastructure groups like Finance, Risk, Technology and key contributor in working with these infrastructure teams to further business objective.

- Representative for India IB MO globally, working with stakeholders and senior leadership team across regions to ensure engagement and agreement on global execution and providing inputs on India.

- Responsible executive for risk and control oversight for all functions across IB MO in India

- To lead the team in ensuring that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Operational Risk Framework and internal Policies and Standards.

- Governance oversight of India IBMO around management of issues, incidents, and key performance indicators

- Ensuring that the appropriate governance and control standards are applied consistently across the function

- Coordinating with operational teams in other functions and businesses to ensure best practice is shared

- Driving financial opportunities, controls and supporting infrastructure (liaising with Finance and Technical colleagues)

- Conflict resolution in a high-pressure environment

Stakeholder Management and Leadership :

- Managing key stakeholders and their expectations within the firm.

- Ensuring healthy relationship with Regulators and external auditors.

- Develop talent within the team and provide regular feedback and coaching

- Consistently facilitate constructive functional and personal development of others

- Provide leadership/mentoring to junior members of the team

- Ability to build robust operating environment by considering Business resiliency is created across Mumbai & Chennai for all the critical functions

- Design, develop and deliver the subject matter trainings to stakeholders

- Contribute to local, regional and global Operations department, including outside of specific sub-function including contributing to the success of overall IBWIM Strategy and the wider BSS strategy in India

- Defining and Executing Change: Acts as a catalyst for change and inspires confidence in stakeholders with the quality and conviction of their vision, building support and sponsorship at all levels and ensures the need for change is embedded in across the organization.

- Driving Continuous Improvement and Innovation: Shapes and drives a culture of review and improvement across the organization. Strives to continually improve business processes that impact positively on the business and uphold the values. Leading discussion groups and forums to connect the dots between PCG, GRS, IBOps, & IBMO teams in India and arrive at synergy initiatives

- Working Collaboratively: Builds a culture where involvement and sharing are seen as essential for the achievement of shared objectives and agendas. Sets a clear agenda where business areas and functions understand their contributions to the future success of the organization.

- Good understanding of Financials and cost centre management including forecasting and contributing to the budgetary functions for the teams

- Management and oversight of team and daily functions completed in Mumbai/Chennai including direct ownership of specific functions and remits

- Ability to leverage the local understanding and relationships with other market players in similar industry to bring out the best practices

Decision-making and Problem Solving:

- Leadership skills with one seeking a deeper, broader and more objective understanding, upon which to base commercial acumen, strategic decisions and actions.

Risk and Control Objective:

- Ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework and internal Policies and Policy Standards

To be eligible for this role you will require:

- Educational qualifications- College degree or above

- Industry qualifications - Series 99 qualified or should be ready to take on the certification post joining

- Minimum 12 to 15 years experience in Investment Banking Operations or other relevant Financial Services

- Possess ability to define and articulate strategic vision

- Strong understanding and heavy emphasis on properly controlled risk and operating environment

- Well versed in the changing regulatory landscape and its impact on the firm

- Must demonstrate strong technical skills and sound knowledge of operational front to back procedures that supports an IB Business,

- Excellent direct team management skills

- Proven track record of implementing change

- Ability to liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders and clients

- Conversant in external market developments and initiatives

- Demonstrate strong leadership skills and commitment to talent development

- LEAN Operational processes - interlocked front to back

- Vast trade substantiation experience and needed controls to manage daily risk indicators

- Increase automation - systems STP, embedded workflow with exception management, robotics learning

- Business and Project Planning ability and disciplines.

- Proven Middle Office Management to drive results and excellence

- This role has to be charismatic to influence change, build motivation across the teams and develop a strong bonding with the stakeholder [Include any further local regulators which the role holder will be required to be regulated under including jurisdiction and the Company which registration will be under]
