Vice President - Marketplace - eCommerce - IIM/MDI/ISB/FMS

CapitalH is hiring for a rapidly scaling social ecommerce company on the lines of PDD-China backed by marque venture capital funds. Extremely strong founding team with high quality academic background and over 50 years of collective experience from companies like Microsoft, Trilogy, Myntra and Metro Cash & Carry.

The company is an incredibly disruptive e-commerce startup targeting the new 500Mn users that have recently come online; the new 'WhatsApp first' India.These users are primarily on mobile, Social (WhatsApp, Facebook & others) is their primary usage scenario so far. They make buying extremely easy in a couple of clicks, provide deep discounts when you buy together with friends, vernacular and it's fun-filled. It is focused on non-metro and rural markets in India who haven't shopped enough online.

Position: VP - Marketplace

Location: Bangalore

Opportunity :

- Create: an unbeatable ecommerce marketplace from scratch

- Build your own team: Hire and mentor a team of supply, category, marketing, digital etc

- Business: Own user acquisition, growth, revenue and profitability

- Identifying the right value proposition and growth channels through a data-driven, experiment-based, systematic approach

- Iterating quickly to understand what works/ what doesn't and scale up/ down experiments accordingly

- Building robust processes and executing on key growth initiatives to achieve targets

- Strategy: Co-create strategy to achieve business plans, strongly position the company in each region, categories and most importantly create a sustainable long term business.

- Marketing: Drive the marketing plans and activities as well as prioritise markets / categories to invest behind & outcomes of such campaigns

- Marketplace Operations: Manage the marketplace operations team as well as define business relevant innovation & experimentation

- Product Strategy: Co-create product with key product stakeholders to define, new features to develop / product prioritisation / business cases, to solve business problems or capture future opportunities.

- Stakeholder Management: Serving as a key member of the senior management team, partner the formulation of the overall organizational strategy, facilitating business growth and performance. Own multi-stakeholder project plans, strategy sessions and make trade-offs bringing alignment as well impactful decision making

- Special Projects: Lead business critical special projects involving stakeholders across functions like marketing, operations, catalogue, product, Business Development etc

Candidate Profile:

- The ideal candidate will be a IIT/IIM with 10+ years of post-qualification work experience, with expertise in Indian eComm /mComm / Traveltech marketplace businesses. The candidate should have experience working as a director / founding team member leading the marketplace in similar businesses.

- The candidate should be a natural business partner, with demonstrated record of managing teams in fast growing and dynamic organizations, and should be willing to go that extra mile to work beyond the KPIs. Deep expertise in Growth, Product, Marketing, Catalogue, Operations and regulatory framework are essential for this role.

Preferences :

- Experience in business roles in high-growth eComm/mComm/Traveltech marketplace startups, consulting firms like McKinsey, Bain, BCG etc

- Strong preference for ex-founders or early-stage founding employees.

- Should be from a top-tier institute (IITs / IIMs /ISB and equivalent)

- Strong problem-solving skills, eye for extreme detail and process-led
