Vice President - Legal Advisory Support - Investment Bank - LLB (12-20 yrs)

Position Description

Your role will be to provide leadership and legal advisory support to the derivatives master documentation and transactional legal teams of Bank providing support to client in APAC region. These teams are involved in drafting and negotiating derivatives master documentation for a wide variery of client types and also provide transactional level legal support to Corporate Banking and Fixed Income and Currencies divisions of the Bank.

You will spend a significant amount of your time providing advisory support to your teams and at the same time also liasing directly with other key stakeholders including the front office staff and Bank Group's diverse client base. In your role, you would be responsible for delivery, process and client management. You would also be responsible for building capability and capacity within the team that encourages an SME culture.

Position Specific Responsibilities and Accountabilities

- Manage a team 15 lawyers providing documentation and legal support in relation to derivatives master documentation (including, but not limited to, ISDA Master Agreements, Credit Support documents, Global Master Repurchase Agreements, Prime Brokerage Agreements) and transactional level legal support.

- Review documents finalised by the team to ensure that all deviations are properly approved and the documents have been negotiated within Bank's approved policies and guidelines.

- Building strong relationships with various stakeholders within the Legal department of Bank and with Business colleagues who are supported by the work handled by the team.

- Provide advisory support to junior lawyers on documentation and legal matters.

- Represent the team on various internal platforms within the Legal department and at broader organisational level.

- Drive and provide leadership on various documentation and process improvement initiatives.

- Understanding business and regulatory requirements and ensuring functions are performed within those requirements

People Management

You would have the responsibility to manage a team of around 15 lawyers and would be responsible for work delivery and support their career progression.

Experience/ Exposure/Skills

- Having experience of financial products or commercial contracts drafting and negotiations. (Previous derivatives documentation, capital markets or general corporate experience gained in a law firm or in-house will be an advantage).

- Experience in a leadership role for atleast 3 years.

- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.

- Excellent legal drafting ability and eye for detail.

- Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.

- Strong problem solving and / or analytical skills with solution based approach.

- Ability to forge strong relationship with internal departments.

- Ability to read complex legal documents with confidence, ease and understanding.

- Excellent interpersonal skills and an excellent team player.

Education/Qualifications

Law Degree or Commonwealth qualified solicitor with over 14 years of PQE.
