About us :

Samagra is a mission driven governance consulting firm. We co-work with the bureaucratic leadership across states on long term systemic transformation programs that cut across governance domains. Since our inception in 2012, all our programs have been focused on our mission of 'improving the quality of life of citizens through better governance'.

Our vision:

Samagra will complete a decade of its existence in 2022. The same year India will complete 75 years of its independent existence. Between now & 2022, we want to be ready to be able to make a meaningful contribution in the India@75 to India@100 journey. To achieve this ambitious goal, we are focused on building our leadership team over the next 2 years. While there is a pipeline of home-grown talent at Samagra taking more responsibilities, we are looking to augment the same through senior lateral recruitment. We are looking for 1-2 Vice Presidents (VPs), who along with our Founder & the emergent internal leaders, lead Samagra to solve governance challenges in India.

Our work :

Our programs are statewide systemic transformation projects across different domains such as education, health, agriculture, employment amongst others; & have a typical duration of 2-3 years. During the course of a program, we work closely with the state government on an in-depth diagnosis followed by intervention design & end-to-end implementation. The following features are a common thread across all our programs:

- Solution design for scale from the start

- Combination of administrative & technical initiatives

- Clearly defined goal & metrics to measure impact

- Strong pull from the state leadership

- Each program offers the opportunity to work & interact with the top bureaucratic & political decision makers in the government along with all the relevant stakeholders like department officials, funders, researchers, NGOs, citizens etc. While our base location is Delhi, our teams are stationed in state headquarters through the work-week to drive state-level engagement.

About the role :

- We are looking for people with top quality consulting experience, a fire-in-the-belly, & above all a commitment to impact. We are offering an opportunity to create impact at scale, lead an emerging organisation & shape the impact / governance sector in the country.

- VPs would start owning a state-wide systemic transformation program from the get-go, initially with cover from the founder/ CEO & very soon independently. This will increase to 2-3 programs in about a year. At the 15-18 month mark, a call on partnership shall be taken based on performance, alignment on values & long term commitment.

Requirements for the role

- Preferably 8-12 years of work experience

- Strong problem solving with an implementation lens

- Ability to form strong professional relationships with senior stakeholders

- Strong communication skills - oral (in public as well as 1:1) & written

- Ability to inspire & do quality professional development of team members

- A strong drive to take things to their logical end

- Resilience in the face of set-backs / bottlenecks

- An entrepreneurial mindset to find ways around challenges

- Commitment to nurturing talent within the organisation

- Willingness to travel to state headquarters for 3-4 days in a week

Compensation would be amongst the best in the impact domain, while being potentially lower than the best corporates, at least in the short run. This would be offset by an opportunity of long term wealth creation post partnership
