Job Description :


- This role is to Lead the DBS & GFs Regional Business Performance Team for Europe in GFOC supporting the Regional SCM Lead and Europe Cost Transformation by delivering monthly MI, Forecasting, and Cost deep dives.

- This role involves working closely with the DBS and GFs Functional Finance Leads in-country and in the GFOC, Business Stakeholders, Fin Systems and Group reporting teams.

- Responsible for providing the In-country team with monthly and ad hoc reporting which will help drive forward looking analytics of costs within various Global Functions & DBS sub functions in Europe and deliver MI to support recommendations to help drive strategic direction.

- Provision of cost deep dives and assess underlying cost drivers

- Support the drive for standardized and automated robust reporting of cost.

- Periodic review of the process controls and establishing corrective actions to mitigate the risk in the process.

- Ability to meet KPI timelines including under stringent time lines and high pressure situations

- Excellent communication skills to be able to network and manage the various Senior Stakeholders on a daily basis.

- Drive new projects/assignments/process: Identify, Drive, Build & operate it as BAU

The Opportunity :

Principal Accountabilities :

- Accountable of Monthly actuals & TM1 submissions, supporting the Forecast/Target/AOP submissions of DBS & GFs

- Ensure high quality of output is delivered e.g. financial data in the reports is accurately and correctly presented, with commentary.

- Ensure month end integrity, e.g. Saracen matching with TM1,URI review, etc.

- Responsible for leading processes with accountability to the Europe SCM Lead

- Support key initiatives to build new, improved management information or analytics to drive decisions

- Support development of new insight and analytics

- Drive Data visualization tools for Cost MI

- Play a key role in supporting the Europe Cost Transformation process by driving critical and insightful MI analytics.

- Timely submission of reports and dealing with stakeholder queries

- Feedback from various stakeholders acknowledging that processes are efficient and effective

- Risks and issues escalated and addressed at appropriate stages

- Group timelines met

- Clear communication and coordinated actions

Customers / Stakeholders :

- Managing key stakeholders of Europe Cost Transformation, GF's & DBS Integrated portfolios: UK Operating Banks CFOs, COOs, Head of Business Performance, Functional CFOs & Fin Ops Management Team.

- Build and ensure strong relationships with key stakeholders and team members, adopting collaborated approach, to execute change at pace with minimum conflict

- Understand stakeholder goals and effectively manage stakeholder expectations, addressing any misalignment

- Maintain contact with stakeholders, communicating status, progress, risks and issues

- Manage and negotiate business solutions so that key stakeholders are bought into decisions that optimize effectiveness.

- Timely and accurate responses to Senior Stakeholders Finance queries

- Customer/stakeholder satisfaction relating to process and outcomes

- Working groups, executive sponsorship and steering committees established and well managed to drive change across the team

- Effective partnership established with functional and business MI leads and CFOs

Leadership & Teamwork :

- Strong leadership skills to collaborate work and influence a distributed set of stakeholders.

- Lead a high caliber team of circa 15, ensuring high levels of employee engagement & quality standards.

- Drive a high performance culture with inclusive nature through strong leadership and effective people management

- Develop and maintain relationships and collaborate across wider teams covering DBS & GF's Finance.

- Development of highly committed & delivery focused teams, consistently delivering high quality results

- Hold regular 1:1s, set objectives & undertake performance reviews within agreed timescales; effectively manage underperformers

- Resource risks managed and effectively mitigated

Operational Effectiveness & Control :

- Provide confirmation of relevant accounting controls

- Identify and implement opportunities for improvements to HOST Business Performance processes

- Ensure report production processes are effective and propose improvements/changes as required

- Periodic review of the process controls and establishing corrective actions to mitigate the risk in the process

- Compliance with audit and external regulatory requirements, internal control standards and group compliance policy

- Timely implementation of recommendations made by internal/external auditors and external regulators.

- Standard methods and tools deployed

- No breaches incurred

- Evidence of risks managed

- Successful internal audit reports with no High Impact audit points

Qualifications :

Major Challenges :

- Given the complex process of Europe along with managing different Senior Stakeholders, need to have clear understanding of the current and anticipate the future requirements of the Stakeholders with regular interactions.

- Build financial models around complex concepts with many different ways of interpreting data and constructing analysis

- Understand and keep abreast of the overall structure of the firm, and appreciate the challenges of working within a matrix organization, with changing management structures

- Liaise with a number of senior stakeholders in a sometimes pressurized environment

- Show diplomacy and professionalism in dealing with the firm's many stakeholders

Management of Risk (Operational Risk / FIM requirements) :

- The jobholder will also continually reassess the operational risks associated with the role and inherent in the business, taking account of changing economic or market conditions, legal and regulatory requirements, operating procedures and practices, management restructurings, and the impact of new technology

- This will be achieved by ensuring all actions take account of the likelihood of operational risk occurring and by addressing any areas of concern in conjunction with line management and/or the appropriate department.

Observation of Internal Controls (Compliance Policy / FIM requirements) :

- The jobholder will also adhere to and be able to demonstrate adherence to internal controls. This will be achieved by adherence to all relevant procedures, keeping appropriate records and, where appropriate, by the timely implementation of internal and external audit points, including issues raised by external regulators

- The jobholder will implement the Group compliance policy by containing compliance risk in liaison with Global Head of Compliance, Global Compliance Officer, Area Compliance Officer or Local Compliance Officer. The term 'compliance' embraces all relevant financial services laws, rules and codes with which the business has to comply

This will be achieved by adhering to all relevant processes/procedures and by liaising with Compliance department about new business initiatives at the earliest opportunity. Also and when applicable, by ensuring adequate resources are in place and training is provided, fostering a compliance culture and optimizing relations with regulators

Role Dimensions :

- The role has significant responsibility for driving the efficient management of the Europe cost base (~$10bn)

- The jobholder will have significant exposure to senior management and will lead a team of direct and indirect reports.

What you will need to succeed in the role :

Experience & Education :

- 12-15 years' experience of operating at a senior level within Financial Services / Services Industry (Banking preferred)

- Strong interpersonal skills with proven ability of organizational planning, problem solving and a track record of driving results

- Ability to work effectively under pressure with competing and rapidly changing priorities

- Ability to develop cohesive working relationships with internal/external stakeholders at all levels of seniority

- Ability to bring analytical rig our and structure and effective solutions to poorly-defined problems

- Strong communication and presentation skills - applicable through multiple channels (written, spoken, workshops, presentations.

- Display commercial acumen in driving business decisions
