Vice President - Engineering - Online/Internet

Own the Technology Capital

- Lead strategic planning to achieve business goals by identifying and prioritizing development initiatives and setting timelines for the evaluation, development, and deployment of products.

- Continuously build and enhance tech capital through market leading technology adoption

- Work closely with Product, Marketing, Category and Operations & CX to define and deliver new products and enhancements

- Check and confirm the accuracy of the work performed and the methods used by engineering

- Work and oversee budgets and timelines for engineering project

- Build tech capability to enable the business growth, set up the engineering organization & processes to enable timely delivery of projects with high quality; Closely monitor and guide product releases and updates for time and quality

- Set a performance management framework for the team

- Deploy best in class technology systems across the board to drive operational efficiencies

- Create detailed engineering plans, processes, and procedures for engineering staff to use

Own Website / Platform Performance and administration

- Improve Site Performance through the power of Tech & analytics.

- Uptime and page load time enhancements

- Own end-to-end availability and performance of technology services.

- Communicate and collaborate with other managers, suppliers, and contractors

- Be the technology leader for the entire BUs - by developing a sustainable architecture to support business growth.

- Design architecture of the platform, that is robust, flexible, scalable & highly available

- Conduct various tests and quality assurance checks to verify the quality of completed projects

- Build quality assurance and data protection processes.

- Explore and implement solutions that drives continuous improvements on cost of technology operations

- Protect the infrastructure and applications from external attacks and ensure negligible down time on account of security threats and attacks.

- Building organisation capability to conduct periodic checks on security loopholes, externally or internally and ensure the consumer sensitive data is always protected

Incorporate AI and ML in business processes

- Spearhead the development of the data science team and drive the development of machine learning algorithms

- Set and established the practices in and around data science, set the context for AI and ML.

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:

- Must have led a team of at least 10-15 engineers (mandatory)

- Experience in planning/architecture and building large scale products

- Flexible: Can be an engineering leader or the lead programmer, hands on experience in JavaScript (mandatory)

- Must have built products from scratch that have seen scale.

- Experience in managing secure, scalable & highly available systems.

- Experience across managing back-end, front-end, mobile, server management

- Excellent leadership skills to hire & mentor the engineers

- Deep understanding of technologies and architecture in a highly scalable and available set-up.

- Strong object-oriented design skills, and an uncanny ability to design intuitive module and interfaces

- Worked in early stage companies (mandatory)

- BE/B.Tech in Computer Science or some equivalent academic stance
