Vice President - Data Scientist - Insurance (13-25 yrs)
Job Description Summary :
This position will serve as the technical leadership role in modelling and data science for the Claim Analytics Center of Excellence (CACOE), responsible for the full cycle of development of predictive models (including approach design, model and data specification, selection of methodology and tools, model development and validation, and documentation of the outputs). The candidate is also expected to provide mentoring and training for junior members of the team.

The key responsibilities for this role include, but are not limited to:
- Analyze the business problems at hand and design an appropriate analytical solution using machine learning and statistical modelling techniques
- Explore available internal data sources and identify those required for the solution. Identify any external data sources needed. Communicate these data requirements to the spoke teams so that they could be procured for model development
- Work in close partnership with CACOE manager to lead analysts and modelers in model development and delivery cycles
- Review and quality control for all predictive models including the corresponding model documents developed in the CACOE
- Work with the spoke teams on user acceptance and delivery phases
- Mentor junior staff of the CACOE and keep the team at the cutting edge of the development of AI, machine learning, NLP, and other cognitive analytics areas
- Research and recommend the latest development and tools in these areas
The key skills and qualifications required for this role include the following :
- Degree in quantitative disciplines such as computer science, computational neuroscience, computational linguistics, econometrics, mathematics, statistics, etc. Postgraduate degrees preferred
- Experiences in model development and implementation in an industrial setting
- Expert knowledge of machine learning and NLP, and good understanding of Data Science domain are required
- Knowledge and experiences in insurance industry, particularly in insurance claim processes
- A basic understanding of the regulations regarding consumer protection, insurance industry, and privacy for the regions relevant to business
- Experience in working in Big Data technology (Hadoop, NoSQL DB) and open-source tools including Python and R
- Good knowledge of visualisation tool like PowerBI, Tableau, etc is a plus
- Strong project management, collaboration and communication skills (both verbal and written)
- Some leadership experience is highly desired but not required
