Job Purpose :

Viacom18 is looking to bring on board an Assistant Manager in the Corporate Strategy team who will work as part of the Business Consulting vertical. The person in this role will support the team in Strategic Planning across business units, competitive benchmarking and CEO/Board communication, and developing perspectives on the Media & Media-Tech incl. latest trends in Media/Tech, Industry forecasts,etc. In addition to supporting these projects in the planning stage, the individual would also be expected to support in execution of projects being driven by the Strategy team. The ideal candidate should have a strong academic background (with undergrad from top tier universities and/or MBA from top-tier B-schools such as IIMs/ISB) and a few years of work experience in management consulting roles or analytics consulting roles.

About the Corporate Strategy and Data Sciences function:

The team is a part of the CEO's office and acts as a liason between the CEO and various business units under the Viacom18 umbrella. The team has 4 critical responsibilties:

1. Monitor business health of all businesses under Viacom18. Aid data-driven decision making across the organisation.

2. Act as though-partners to Viacom18 businesses. Identify avenues to increase toplines and bottomlines for Viacom18 businesses in both short-term and long-term.

3. Evaluate new market and new business opportunities that are in synergy with existing business

4. Foster a culture of innovation within the organisation

Specific Responsibilities :

- Understand the business needs and identify opportunity areas that can be improved through well-structured analytical solutions or data driven root cause analysis

- Take completely ownership of carrying out specific analyses and synthesis of the analyses

- Build in-depth competition insights and benchmarking, using both quantitative and qualitative inputs

- Program and project management: Identifying strategic opportunities, designing project proposals, getting leadership buy-in, and pursuing them for implementation

- Leadership Communication: Supporting leadership and CEO communication both externally (board updates) and internally (Townhalls)

- Strategic Planning: Supporting the long-term strategic vision and growth blueprint for Viacom18, as well as periodic review and revisions

- Thought Leadership: Supporting in thought leadership activities such as publishing whitepapers on new technology, estimating and forecasting market sizes and growth, identifying cost trends, etc.

Special skills :

- Ability to structure ambiguous business situations into analytical frameworks

- Ability to synthesize, summarize and showcase analyses in an easy to understand manner

- Ability to visualise problems and design recommendations with the stakeholders in mind

- Comfortable in handling large data sets

- Ability to construct, use and communicate numbers-driven arguments

- Command over English

- Top-down written and verbal comminication. Good presentation skills.

- Strong program management skills

- Command over with Excel and PowerPoint

- High degree of ownership, accountability and bias for action

- Experience in media industry is not essential

Qualifications :

- MBA from Premier Insitute (IIMs, ISB, etc.) or Qualified CA or Engineering from top-tier colleges such as IITs/NITs/IIITs

- Strong academic performance with demonstarted quantitative aptitude is required

- Experience in analytical problem solving in industry or consulting is a must. Criteria: 0-3 years for MBA candidates and 2-5 years for those with technical Masters or undergraduate degrees.

- Track record of achievement in career positions or high level of academic achievement

- Advanced proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, macros, power pivot, etc.) and PowerPoint are a must
