User/UX Researcher - EdTech Industry (4-6 yrs)

We are looking for a full-time User/ UX researcher responsible for end-to-end user and UX research projects with minimum 4 years of previous experience in User/ UX research specifically of working with start-up/ EdTech companies/ User research agencies. An exceptional candidate who is passionate about credible research into education/careers/skills/recruitment space within EdTech and has a track record or demonstrable potential toward publication. This role bridges the gap between academia and commercial enterprise by providing research-based insights and evidence that can shape and improve what we do as an ed-tech business. The role has multiple demands and would suit someone who thrives in a fast paced and dynamic environment balancing speed and quality in task completion at all times.

The researcher is responsible for all aspects of research (planning, recruiting, moderation, analysis, reporting) for both generative and evaluative (usability testing, UX) research and her/ his portfolio/ CV should reflect both. The researcher will also be comfortable working with data, secondary research, qualitative and quantitative analysis. A problem solver, self-driven with strong documentation skills.

Key Activities & Responsibilities:

- Lead, coordinate and undertake a variety of research roles in a responsive and flexible way.

- Conducting research on competitors, emerging Ed-Tech trends, organisations within the space and other relevant information gathering.

- Demonstrable expertise in building research frameworks (quantitative/qualitative) to support product and business development

- Undertaking impact studies with end users and partners to feed to support platform development as well as sales and marketing efforts.

- Strong experience in data extraction and synthesis, skills analysis, comparative and market (user) research

- Proficient at developing and delivering a range of research instrumentation including surveys, interviews, A/B experiments through a range of technologies including SurveyMonkey, Prolific etc.

- You will be leading research projects independently, either alone or with a team of researchers, working closely with a team of designers, product managers and engineers in a highly collaborative and agile environment.

- Projects usually start with a fundamental inquiry, arrived collaboratively with stakeholders across design, product & engineering. This also entails identifying & prioritizing research inquiries and defining the research strategy for your product area.

- You should be able to plan and execute research studies and accurately estimate project time without oversight,

- This also means thinking strategically, creating research plans and applying relevant research methods to reveal unmet-unarticulated needs, motivations & behaviours of our users and customers. Additionally, you would have to understand and incorporate business and technical requirements into your studies.

- A command of a wide range of research methods along with the ability to articulate and communicate research insights at all stages of product development is essential.

- You should be able to make connections across different research areas, making connections and identifying patterns to enable larger product goals

- You are expected to communicate results and opportunities in clear, concise, and compelling ways to all levels of the product team, translate data into insights & research findings into actionable recommendations.

- Most importantly, you'll need to be a passionate advocate for our users throughout the development process and demonstrate how this leads to business value.

Required Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

- 4+ years of experience in the technology industry conducting User research, with a proven track record of driving tangible outcomes with product teams

- Educational qualification that is either an advanced degree in Psychology, User Experience, Human-Computer Interaction, Anthropology, Social sciences or related fields, with significant industry experience.

- Strong understanding of & experience with a broad range of research methodologies, their pros/ cons and their application during different phases of product development.

- Have an entrepreneurial zeal to get things done & figure out ways to translate research insights into product experiences. Proven ability to work within tight timelines and with excellent project management skills.

- Track record of collaborating across disciplines (design, engineering) to drive change into products; must be able to work independently as well as part of a cohesive team.

- Hands-on experience with Quantitative research with inferential statistics, metric analysis.

- Designing user experiences, knowledge of UI design principles, ability to prototype

- Keen interest in/ follow the world of Business news & start-ups

You will succeed if you have:

- Demonstrate ability to plan and organize own and team activities efficiently, prioritizing where appropriate.

- Competence at liaison and co-ordination over user needs and other research issues with collaborative research partners from other parts of the project

- Able to articulate and adhere to ethical research procedures

- Excellent communication skills, both in written and oral English, and an attention to detail
