Team Overview :
Our Sales team is the largest revenue-generation department at United. We work closely with external customers such as travel agencies and corporate clients. Our team is also connected with United's commercial teams such as revenue management, network and marketing.
Role Overview :
- The team is currently looking for a commercially minded analyst who has a passion for data, analytics, visualization, and automation. They will demonstrate the willingness to dig deep into details, the ability to assess the big picture, and focus on strategic priorities. Developing and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders in US and around the world, as well as ensuring familiarity with the commercial environment of United Airlines and the airline industry will be critical.
This role will require strategic thinking, intellectual curiosity, and analytical strength. High-level responsibilities of the role include :
Responsibilities :
- Maintain, improve, and automate existing reports
- Create new reports based on business/ executive requirements
- Develop dashboards that enhance strategic decision making at the market level
- Design, implement, and operate tools to measure performance of Sales products
- Execute strategic analysis to support and influence go-to-market direction
- Improve existing processes for efficiency and quality
- Actively work with Sales leadership to understand and adapt to fast changing market place
- Often required to find ad-hoc solutions to address unique issues that will meet the needs of United and our customers
- May require work outside of normal hours when needed to meet deadlines
- Requires exceptional follow-up and time management skills and coordination various stakeholders of the Sales organization: Strategy, Agency, Corporate, and International teams
Qualifications :
- Bachelor's degree required
- Master's Degree in a quantitative field like Math, Statistics, Operations Research and/or MBA preferred
Knowledge/Skills :
- Functional understanding of airline commercial organizations highly preferred
- Ability to package data insights into cohesive stories in clean/ concise presentations is a differentiating skill
- Proven comfort and an intellectual curiosity for working with very large sets of data, pulling in relevant team members to address identified and sometimes undiscovered needs Hands-on knowledge in either predictive modeling or in setting up business intelligence solutions
- Hands on experience in setting up using Big Data ecosystems like Hadoop/Spark will be a plus
- Basic programming skills for web scraping and experience of working with non-structured data will be a plus
- Be experienced in manipulating and analyzing complex, high-volume, high dimensionality data from various sources to highlight patterns and relationships
- Strong knowledge of either SAS, R or Python
- Be proficient in using database querying tools and ability to write complex queries and procedures using Teradata SQL and/or Microsoft TSQL
- Be familiar with one or more reporting tools - Spotfire / Tableau/ Power BI
- Be able to communicate complex quantitative analysis and algorithms in a clear, precise and actionable manner
- Exhibit written and spoken English fluency Experience
- 3+ years of experience in analytics required
Other :
- Approximately 4-6 weeks of travel to US (or other International Sales locations ) in a year required
- Must be legally authorized to work in India for any employer without sponsorship
- Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
- Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
