One of our clients, a global consulting firm is looking for a TV Technical Specialist in Doha, Qatar, with their client, a Digital TV leader in Qatar on contract for 12 months.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Enhance ongoing QA and implement automation testing

- Strengthen QA and testing processes by conducting ongoing QA, enforcing higher standards of testing from vendors and expanding automation testing capacity and scope to proactively minimize potential defect leakage while increasing testing productivity. Key activities include:

- Continuous Quality Assurance across platforms

- Engage/ manage existing vendors to define quality expectations, with compliance driven via enhanced experience governance; Coordinate with legal/ procurement to enhance contractual obligations if need be

- Oversee deployment of additional automation testing robots with the selected vendor, enabling additional portals for proactive and continuous testing. This would require 4 robots with 4 slots each

2. Centralize bugs management

- Establish a centralized bugs and release management system to enable Ooredoo and vendors to manage bugs tracking and recording efficiently across Android STB, iOS app and companion app. Key activities include defining the requirements for:

- A centralized bugs management tool cutting across Android STB, Apple TV and mobile app managed internally or by an independent third-party to ensure complete vendor accountability and transparency

- Standardized bug categorization to allow regular and efficient allocation of actions to relevant vendors and oversee vendor performance in resolving bugs

- Establishing the requisite processes to be enforced through the tool and suitable governance

3. Improve Over-The-Air (OTA) firmware update management

- Refine and expend OTA Device Management activities utilizing relevant tools to help streamline and automate the OTA Device Management processes and improve service experience. Key activities include:

- Draft the scope of the dedicated OTA Device Management team to be established which will oversee the ongoing operations and continuous improvement of OTA tools and processes

4. Determine the requirements for an end-to-end monitoring dashboard

- Define the scope of a consolidated end-to-end monitoring tool which enables monitoring of key metrics (for Android STB, Apple TV and smartphone app) and consolidation of metrics from all the available monitoring tools. Key activities include:

- Identify key metrics for the monitoring dashboard covering all aspects of network and device as well as the data sourcing and manipulation approach for selected metrics

- Define the metrics in Agama and other tools and determine the systematic extraction approach for dashboard integration

- Set the parameters for the development of the visualization of the dashboard, keeping in view the various layers of governance and corresponding level of detail required

- Determine the available data visualization tools to be used and define access rights based on governance requirements

- Define the specific areas for which insights should be generated to target dormant user behaviour for driving service adoption

- Draft the requisite RFPs to cover the above scope and support the procurement process covered within the duration of the engagement

Candidate Requirements:

- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science or Electronics Engineering or an equivalent qualification

- A minimum of five years' experience in the following areas:

- Advanced system and network administration

- Configuration management tools and methodologies

- Strong experience in software development including automation techniques

- Intermediate programming skills

- A minimum of five years' experience with TV/ Video services for leading telcos in Europe and/or North America

- Ability to assess, recommend, select, design, and implement optimum solutions related to the delivery of TV

- Excellent Troubleshooting Skills

- Excellent stakeholder management skills.

- Knowledge of relevant standards: MPEG, DRM, Android and HDCP

- Configuration management tools.

- Development skills, preferably experienced in Python, TV networks/headend, reporting and dashboard visualization tools.

- Test plan analysis and design.

- Strong experience in Continuous Integration/ Continuous Deployment tools.

- Knowledge across multiple disciplines including delivery, QA and infrastructure monitoring.

- Relevant 3rd level Degree and / or industry certification with requisite professional experience.

- Strong oral and written communication skills in English

- Ability to work in distributed international teams

- Proficiency in Microsoft office applications, especially in PowerPoint, Word and Excel

Distinct advantage will be an experience in:

- Advanced system and network administration IPTV Head end architecture.

- Experience in leading and advising on Project management initiatives.

- Automation testing, test script writing

- Strong Software development and deployment methodologies skills

- Strong build, deployment, testing and release automation capabilities

Additional Desirable Criteria:

- At least two to four years of experience in consulting

- An undergraduate degree from a top-tier university

- An MBA or relevant master's degree is strongly beneficial but not required

- Willingness to maintain a flexible schedule to meet client deadlines and firm needs

- Passion to work with new Digital TV technologies

- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English

- Excellent teamwork and ability to work with and lead distributed international teams
