Role Overview:
The Head of KYC & CKYC will be responsible for developing and implementing robust Know Your Customer (KYC) and Central KYC (CKYC) processes, ensuring regulatory compliance, and leveraging technology to enhance efficiency in customer onboarding and verification. The role requires a deep understanding of regulatory requirements, digital transformation, and process automation in the general insurance industry.
Key Responsibilities:
Regulatory Compliance & Governance:
- Ensure full compliance with RBI, IRDAI, and FIU-IND guidelines on KYC, CKYC, and AML (Anti-Money Laundering) regulations.
- Stay updated with evolving regulations and implement necessary changes in processes and systems.
- Develop and enforce policies, procedures, and controls for customer due diligence, enhanced due diligence (EDD), and risk-based KYC practices.
- Liaise with regulatory authorities, auditors, and internal stakeholders to ensure smooth compliance adherence.
Process & Technology Implementation:
- Design and implement automated KYC & CKYC processes for seamless customer onboarding and verification.
- Integrate KYC solutions with core insurance systems, policy issuance platforms, and digital distribution channels.
- Collaborate with IT, digital transformation, and data science teams to implement AI/ML-based fraud detection mechanisms.
- Optimize document verification, OCR, and e-KYC capabilities to reduce manual intervention and improve turnaround time.
Operational Efficiency & Risk Management:
- Enhance CKYC data submission processes, ensuring accuracy and adherence to reporting requirements.
- Implement real-time monitoring systems to flag suspicious transactions and reduce fraudulent claims.
- Improve customer experience by streamlining KYC processes across all touchpoints, including agents, branches, and digital channels.
- Drive automation for periodic KYC updates and re-KYC processes, ensuring high compliance levels with minimal disruption.
Leadership & Stakeholder Management:
- Lead a team of compliance, risk, and tech professionals to implement KYC/CKYC strategies effectively.
- Collaborate with underwriting, claims, sales, and customer service teams to ensure smooth KYC operations.
- Manage external vendor relationships for KYC/AML technology solutions and third-party verification services.
- Develop and deliver training programs to ensure internal teams are well-versed with KYC/CKYC protocols.
Key Requirements:
Experience & Skills:
- 10+ years of experience in KYC/AML compliance, preferably in general insurance, banking, or financial services.
- Strong understanding of IRDAI and RBI regulations related to KYC, CKYC, AML, and fraud prevention.
- Experience in implementing digital KYC solutions, automation tools, and reg-tech platforms.
- Expertise in data governance, reporting, and regulatory audit management.
- Strong leadership and stakeholder management abilities to drive cross-functional collaboration.
Educational Qualifications:
- Bachelor's/Master's degree in Finance, Business, Law, Risk Management, or related field.
- Certifications in Compliance, AML, or Fraud Risk Management (CAMS, ICA, etc.) are a plus.
Preferred Competencies:
- Ability to blend regulatory expertise with technology-driven process improvement.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for risk assessment and compliance automation.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills for regulatory and internal reporting.
