Travelex - Business Analyst - Financial Services Domain (14-16 yrs)

Travelex, the world leader in providing foreign currency and exchange services, is looking for qualified Chartered Accountant to join its Global Operations Centre of Excellence in Mumbai, India as an Assistant Vice President (AVP) or Vice President (VP). The position is a direct report into the Global Director of Operations and is responsible for project management and business analysis across Global Operations and COO functions.

To be successful, you will be Project Management certified or actively working towards this accreditation. You will have experience working on Projects in Banking, Financial Services and Insurance. Specifically, you would be responsible to manage a team of colleagues in Project Management and Business Analysis functions and be responsible for delivery of implementation targets through timely/successful execution of end-to-end Financial projects leveraging across the organization.

The jobholder will:

- Be the vertical lead for the team and be responsible for Program/Project delivery on time/on budget and at expected level of quality (e.g. planned savings realized).

- Engage with Onshore Project Managers, Regional Financial managers & Subject Matter Experts to gather requirements.

- Acquire an understanding of current state processes and business context

- Apply a structured project management approach and methodology

- Participate in the projects prioritization process

- Develop key program artefacts, reporting, hand-offs & communication plans

- Full service project management leadership & engagement in all project life cycle phases

- Work with IT, Admin, Legal, Operations in developing & implementing appropriate financial solutions

- Develop a set of actionable and targeted change management plans, including communication plan, change implementation plan and training plan

- Manage cross functional relationships (including at the Senior Executive level) across the group

- Define business requirements, design functional solution & collaborate with the team to build solutions

- Tracking project status and taking to closure

Key Skills:

This is a key leadership role in the Global Operations- Share Services team:

Technical skills and business knowledge

- Functional knowledge of General Ledger structuring, SAP, Treasury, Reporting & Analytics, Reconciliations

- Awareness or experience working with market-wide tools used for above areas within Finance

- Extensive project management experience, across varied projects preferably independent handling of large projects

- Proven experience to deliver end-to-end Finance and change initiatives - initiation, feasibility, planning & design, build set-up, Training & Service rehearsal, Parallel run & close

- Ability to coordinate multiple assignments and work independently

- Motivate, lead and influence a project team of indirect reports

- Strong documentation skills with the ability to develop complete, accurate and unambiguous documentation of business processes

- Can do attitude, with a proven record of delivering project outcomes

- Flexible skill set and confident approach to tackling issues

- Ability to question status quo and challenge users to ensure the what, Why and How are well understood.

Communication skills

- Demonstrated ability to motivate, influence and gain commitment at all levels of the organization

- Strong facilitation, oral and written communication skills. Effective presentation skills

- Strong Microsoft Office tools, Visio (Swimlanes), PowerPoint /Process/Systems/Data Mapping skills well developed ability to define and document processes and capture process/system/data requirements end-to-end

- Ability to build strong relationship and influence clients and stakeholders.

- Proactive approach to anticipating client needs, issues and challenges, and initiating solutions that carries through to resolution.

Leadership

- Coach & mentor junior project team members on project management skills as well as project management practices

- Acts as promoter to create a project culture that facilitates Accelerated Project Performance.

- Manage consistent metrics for measuring project success and team performance.

- Ensures knowledge is shared with resources and promote team learning across projects.

- Further opportunities to improve processes - detect and highlight any control gaps in the process.

Experience and Qualities:

- Qualified CA preferred. Alternately, B Com with CPA / ICWA / MBA (Finance).

- Project Management Professional (PMP) or Prince 2 certification required

- Good background and understanding of Banking Financial Services and Insurance Operations in India

- Overall post-qualification experience of around 14-16 years with about 8-10 years of relevant experience in Program/Project management, regulatory projects, business process reengineering and process transitions, preferably in the Financial Services industry

- Proven knowledge of US GAAP, UK GAAP, IFRS and other local GAAP accounting principles, practices, standards, laws and regulations is preferred

- Experience of working in fast paced / Global finance department

- Comfortable in working with virtual teams spread across the globe

- Provides thought leadership to shape future decisions

- Focuses on creating value for the business

- Adapts to changing objectives and priorities to deliver results

- Clearly communicates the company missions and values

- Self-disciplined with ability to work independently and under stress and pressure, target and result driven, energetic and driven with a real hands on approach to the job
