Overview :

- TransOrg is seeking a highly-skilled Lead Data Scientist who is experienced in designing and developing analytical applications (with preference provided to insurance applications) and managing small-sized onsite and/or remote teams of data engineers, scientists and Visualization developers

Location : Helena/Montana.

Responsibilities :

- Perform data wrangling, a mashup of distinctive data sets, generate models/algorithms using statistical analysis, natural language processing, and machine learning.

- Generate insights/outcomes from these models/algorithms for business/user consumption and integrate these with the Tableau interface.

- Strategize and implement technical operationalization of models/algorithms for requirements/scenarios that require these models to generate scores on an on-going and automated basis (for example: production-alization of a predictive model that reads in incremental data, recalculates scores and presents this through the Tableau interface).

- Lead the work of an onsite team of 1 Lead Tableau Developer and a remote team of 1 Data Scientist and 1 Tableau Developer as well as a vendor team of 3 Big Data Engineers. Provide a consolidated weekly status report to the IT Director that will include the plan and status of all work performed by the team including the work done by the partial Workers

- Compensation Business Consultant/SME

- Collaborate closely with the other staff of the Big Data Ecosystem; namely Business, Data

- Engineering team, Big Data Administrators, Business Analysts and QA staff.

- Assist IT director and Workers Compensation Business Consultant/SME in business operationalization/adoption of insights/outcomes

Education & Skills Summary :

- Minimum of 5 years experience in creating data science models that involve traditional statistics (for example - Hypothesis Testing) and Machine Learning

- Experience must include both Python and R data programming languages with an emphasis on Python. Preference will be given if the candidate has worked on an additional language like PySpark.

- Minimum of 2 years experience in playing a lead role and handling similar-sized onsite/remote teams

- Preference will be given for candidates who have worked in a Big Data Ecosystem, i.e they have created data science algorithms off of a Big Data Lake and have familiarity with big data technologies like Hive and/or Impala

- Preference will be given for candidates who can demonstrate the use of Tableau for visualization of data science model outcomes

- Preference will be given for candidates who have experience with insurance clients (any insurance line of business).
