1. POSITION VACANT: Training Manager (Five Vacancies), Reach to Teach, based at five districts of Gujarat (Rajkot, Patan, Panch Mahal, Navsari and Chhota Udaipur) (One in each district)


2. ORGANIZATION BACKGROUND:

- Reach to Teach (RTT) is an education charity that works with governments and other like-minded organisations, to improve the quality of primary education. RTT exists to transform the lives of children in remote and marginalized communities in India, by focusing on transforming classroom teaching practices and teacher-to-child engagement.

- Founded in 2003, RTT has grown into an established charity improving the learning outcomes of children in the state of Gujarat and believes that the most important factor in improving children's learning, is the quality of teaching. RTT's technical team has helped successfully deploy international best practices in education, at rural schools in Gujarat and is committed to ensuring that the same are extended and adopted by all schools, state-wide.

- RTT is working in coalition with other organisations, to support the Government of Gujarat's ongoing efforts to deliver systemic change to ensure better foundational literacy and numeracy outcomes.

About the Project: Gujarat Education Coalition (GEC):

- The Gujarat Education Coalition (GEC) works collaboratively to co-create and deliver a comprehensive and scalable program to improve the Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) outcomes in Gujarat.

- The GEC will set up Regional FLN (RFLN) Hubs to work closely with district education teams to strengthen government FLN interventions. The RFLN Hubs will work collaboratively with district education officials to jointly plan and implement a range of interventions to improve the foundational learning programme and strengthen system capacity to sustain them.

- The majority of interventions will be designed at state level, including improved curriculum, strategies for teacher training and mechanisms for enhanced data collection, however the RFLN Hubs will play a critical role in ensuring effective implementation at district level. The RFLN Hubs will also steer context specific local innovations and strategies which could be scaled up, if successful.

3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Reporting to the Senior Manager, Regional FLN Hub, the Training Manager (TM) will be key to building capacity at the regional FLN hubs and contribute to build capacity for achieving improved FLN outcomes in their respective districts.

- The post holder will be responsible for supporting the delivery and upskilling of the district, block, cluster and school professionals within the district and strengthen DIET to support FLN design and delivery. S/he will work collaboratively with the GEC team to support in the design of training materials, agree a training calendar and co-deliver the training alongside the district training team. 


- S/he will also support capacity building through more informal training programs including peer learning communities with teachers and through providing more hands-on support to district officials throughout the academic year.

A. Key Roles and Responsibilities:

(1) Conduct training needs analysis with DIET and district resource group to understand training needs of the key district, block, cluster and school-level professionals in order to design and deliver effective training;

(2) Influence the training design and content based on training needs and strategies identified by GEC to improve teaching;

(3) Review new and existing training content and suggest changes to ensure content aligns with best-practice teaching and learning approaches for FLN;

(4) Deliver training, in collaboration with the district level trainers, to teachers, cluster resource coordinators and block resource coordinators on FLN interventions;

(5) Deliver training using a variety of tools and blended learning approaches such as presentations, slow-paced learning, experiential and on the job training to impact quality training;

(6) Provide intensive support to specific blocks where we will design and run FLN pilots;

(7) Work with these specific blocks to identify, design and deliver training;

(8) Alongside the GEC Education Coaches and the District stakeholders, facilitate peer learning community sessions with a focus on practice-based professional learning;

(9) Work with district officials to create processes for gathering training feedback;

(10) Analyze training feedback and impact;

(11) Work with the regional FLN hub Data and Operations Manager and District Officials to create a training calendar and operationalise the training program;

(12) Participate in monthly program review meetings to review the progress of the program activities and outcomes;

(13) Liaise with the M&E team, especially Action Research Managers deployed in Regional FLN Hubs to design and roll out action research interventions in the district;

(14) Consolidate feedback and learning from the district and feed this into course correction and redesign, if required;

(15) Regularly visit schools both independently and in collaboration with cluster, block and district officials to support the delivery of programme objectives;

(16) Carry out other duties within the scope and spirit of the job, and by the level of the post, as required.

B. Other Responsibilities:

(1) Safeguarding:

(a) Ensure child protection and safeguarding issues that arise are identified and reported promptly in line with RTT's safeguarding policies;

(a) Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders within RTT, partner organisations and government bodies as required;

(b) Coordinate RTT's engagement in the GEC, ensuring RTT is well represented;

(c) Manage stakeholders, taking account of their levels of influence and particular interests;

(d) Provide support through friendly challenge.

(3) Teamwork:

(a) Embed collaborativeproblem-solvingpractices within the teams;

(b) Promote and role model RTT's management culture of openness, innovation, involvement, teamwork and performance;

(c) Maintain the highest standards of personal and professional integrity and conduct role modeling RTT values and behaviour.

4.  EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:

Experience:

(1) Minimum five to seven years of relevant experience;

(2) Strong experience in training design and delivery;

(3) Experience in education field is highly desirable.

Skills and Competencies:

(1) Familiar with, and always act by RTT's values, policies, procedures, standing orders and financial regulations to ensure that staff are aware of their obligations to follow them;

(2) Ability to facilitate and guide conversation;

(3) Active listening skills.

(13) Fluency in Gujarati and Hindi is essential;

(14) Basic understanding of English Language (Fluency an asset)

(15) Ability and willingness to travel as per job requirements.

5. COMPENSATION OFFERED:

Gross compensation for the position is attractive. Please note that the offer made to the selected candidate shall be commensurate with qualifications, experience and salary history.

7. LOCATION (s): The five positions are based at Rajkot, Patan, Panch Mahal, Navsari, Chhota Udaipur (one at each location), with occasional travel to Gandhinagar.

8. APPOINTMENT: This is a full-time position. The initial contract offered shall be till March 2023 and renewable thereafter based on performance.
