Designation: Deputy Manager / Manager


Location: Mumbai


What youll do:


- Drafting, negotiating, assisting and managing agreements pertaining to licensing and distribution of content across platforms, acquisition of content, productions and marketing


- Structure and negotiate and draft a variety of music and entertainment-related agreements, including recording, licensing, producer/mixer, soundtrack, termination/release, merchandising and contract summaries


- Review artwork, label copy, videos, advertising and other marketing and promotional materials


- Investigate, analyze and respond to a variety of claims, including copyright, audit, breach of contract, publicity and trademark, and work with the team to develop litigation strategies. Draft legal notices for unauthorized exploitation of copyright, cease & desist notices for infringement


- Provide current and relevant legal policy, practices, and information to relevant functions (advice on statutory compliance) and identify and act on emerging legal affairs and changes


- Manage rights protection litigation, working with external lawyers on cases as required


- Manage, interpret contracts and enter the details in Contract Management System, on a timely basis


- Liaise with other business units and departments, and perform any other duties and tasks related to the teams role and responsibilities that might be assigned from time to time


Who you are:


- Law graduate/masters in law with at least 5 years of experience in the entertainment industry


- Exceptional attention to detail


- In-depth understanding of the areas of the law applicable to the music business, such as copyright, contract, and trademark


- Excellent organization, analytical, and time-management skills, including the ability to work independently, follow deadlines, and effectively multitask


- Excellent communication skills, and superior negotiating and drafting skills


- General music industry and/or copyright law knowledge is preferred
