Job Title: Chief Accountant/Deputy CFO External Interface (External agencies/authorities that this position is required to deal with while discharging his duties) - Financial Institutions - Banks - Audit Firms - Consultants - Legal Firms Minimum Qualification (i.e education, training etc.) - CA Minimum Experience - 15-20 yrs experience, with 3-5 years working for large organizations with market cap of Rs.10000 cr plus Special Skills/Attributes (required for performing the job effectively) - Well-versed in various accounting laws and regulations. - Sound exposure to internal audits &amp; controls - General accounting, overall book keeping management, consolidation of accounts &amp; closures - Sound knowledge of performance reporting, exposure to the budgeting process for multiple businesses, expense monitoring and control. - Knowledge of Commercial &amp; Income Tax (Direct &amp; Indirect Taxation ) - Understanding of Financial Risk Management framework - Knowledge of Financial Analysis &amp; Control Frameworks and techniques - Budgetary Control &amp; Cost Optimization techniques (including Funds &amp; Cash Flow Management) - Excellent leadership skills to drive business decisions - Strategic thinking, negotiations skills and analytical skills Key Responsibilities (Major responsibilities to achieve the key objectives) Accounting &amp; Taxation : - Assist CFO/Director Finance in implementation of internal control policies, guidelines, and procedures relating to financial controls, expenses and other general accounting. - Develop / enhance practices and procedures and maintain accounting principles, to ensure accurate and timely financial statements. - Monitor compliance with set accounting and reporting standards as well as internal control systems defined to ensure timeliness and accuracy of accounting for various SPVs/ Projects - Ensure timely consolidation of books of accounts - Drive financial planning for the short, medium and long term, working closely with the Leadership Team, Project Heads and Functional teams - Participate in the budgeting exercise of various businesses and ensure the budgets are signed off by the management as per timelines. - Undertake review and analysis of various financial statements (Balance sheet and income statement) on a periodic basis to validate the reports prepared and identify and correct anomalies, if any. - Monitor the preparation of yearly final accounts (profit and loss statement and balance sheet) in line with statutory accounting requirements - Develop / Update Standard Operating Procedures on taxation related matters and design systems and processes to ensure efficiency in tax planning - Ensure compliance with tax authority regulations and laws by reviewing &amp; assessing computations to ensure that the taxes for the various SPVs/ Projects are accurately calculated and returns timely filed ( Income tax, GST, etc.) to avoid penalties - Undertake periodic Tax Planning exercises and carry out comprehensive analysis of any changes in the tax framework (in consultation with Tax advisor, legal team, etc.) to ensure tax optimization for the organization - Continuously monitor updates in tax laws to identify opportunities for relief and adapt existing practices to optimize tax levels - Provide update/ respond to queries to the Board on the financial health of the organization as per the accounting statements - Establish calendar for the periodic review of financial statements with key management personnel and ensure compliance. Audit : - Develop a risk-based internal audit plan to audit critical financial reporting and evaluate other risk exposures, safeguard the company from all risks and ensure compliance with laws and regulations. - Ensure execution of the internal audit plan across the businesses. - Ensure all Internal Audit reports are clear, concise, help identify root causes with practical solutions, and ultimately provide value to management. - Ensure execution of training plan across businesses and communication to all businesses with regard to the internal audit procedures and compliance. - Basis the audit findings, establish - Best Practices- for various functions / businesses and ensure buy-in for major initiatives and implementation of the same. - Facilitate Audit Committee meetings, evaluate various observations / recommendations by external auditors and implement approved changes. Risk Assessment &amp; Management / Internal Controls: - Develop a high level risk management framework, outlining the roles and responsibilities from corporate functions, divisions and business units. - Manage the overall risk management process of the organization, including the design and implementation of the process for effective identification and assessment of risks, considering the likelihood and potential impact (both financial and non-financial). - Report on key risks, advice on appropriate risk management options and ensure risk mitigation. - Enhance SOPs post assessing the various financial &amp; non-financial risks and ensure implementation. - Compile and analyse data on risk and organizational trends.
