ABOUT THE ORGANISATION

The Antara Foundation (TAF) is a public health non-profit with a vision to ensure that every mother and each child has an equal start to a healthy life. TAF aims to help change some of India's worst health outcomes and prevent needless deaths of mothers and children across villages. The focus is on designing and implementing innovations to achieve delivery at scale. TAF works in partnership with various State governments, with its programs running across Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.

TAF was founded by Ashok Alexander, former director at McKinsey & Company and India country director of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF). The team comprises a diverse set of individuals with backgrounds such as management consulting, public health, journalism, academia, development and others.

POSITION

TAF is looking for an outgoing, committed, creative and entrepreneurial individual to join as Development Associate to support the organisation on a range of activities related to donor development and donor management. The role requires strong communications, analytical, multitasking and people skills, with a preference for work experience in non-profit development/fundraising. The person should have an interest in the social sector space, an open mind to learn and be willing to work hard in an impact-oriented fast-paced environment to achieve the organisation's goals.

Role Summary: The role offers a unique opportunity to support TAF's fund-raising efforts in India and abroad. The person will support in managing the potential donor pipeline, conduct ongoing benchmarking of TAF's development efforts against other comparable non-profits, contribute to idea generation, develop grant proposals and execute new funding opportunities, ensure effective liaison between TAF and its fundraising partners, and support relationships with existing donors. Alongside, the person will help TAF ensure highly engaging communications with its existing donors (in coordination with the communications team) through a range of methods (e.g., regular progress reports, mailers, virtual events).

KEY TASKS

1. Support new donor development

- New fundraising - identify and research new donors, CSR, foundations; benchmark against other NGOs.

- Keep the donor pipeline tracker up-to-date; identify actions and responsibilities.

- Outreach activities - emails, tailored invites, set up meetings, create presentations, follow up.

- Workplace giving programs and partnerships- manage calendar, work with TAF on targeted campaigns.

- Foundation fundraising (e.g., analytics to identify foundation contacts; grant research and writing).

2. Support existing donor management

- Manage the donor database (e.g., track existing donors, backgrounds, funds received and committed).

- Send thank you letters, and develop/execute donor appreciation ideas

- Develop timely monitoring reports.

- Ensure commitments to sustained donors, foundations and CSR donors are met (e.g., reporting, mentions in annual reports, preparing donor profiles).

3. Backend donor management processes

- Establish appropriate payment mechanisms - card, check, DAF, campaign pages, employer match, etc.

- Ensure TAF and its fundraising partners are on all DAF and employer giving databases.

- Identify and establish appropriate development operations tools.

4. Event planning and execution

- Execute events and support with planning - e.g., donor meets, salon conversations.

5. Communications and events

- Maintain a current communications toolkit (working with the communications team) for use with various events and outreach.

- Liaise with TAF communications team to provide input on comms needed and adapt these to donor development and donor management needs

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

- Bachelor's degree (or higher), preferably in a related field like public policy, public health, communications, non-profit management; candidates working in top management consulting firms, willing to move to the social sector to leverage their research, analytical and communications skills may also consider applying

- 2-5 years' work experience; prior experience working in non-profit development/fundraising will be a plus, though not a mandate

- Well versed in Microsoft suite (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint) or comparable tools

- Knowledge in development tools like Mailchimp, payment processing (e.g., Paypal, Stripe), campaign tools, donor-advised funds, grant applications, will be a plus

- Self-starter and multi-tasker- can identify what needs to be done and get it done, with strong work-planning and execution skills

- Exceptional oral and written communication skills
