Manager Media and Communications
- TechnoServe works with a diverse set of partners and funders, including Capgemini, Cargill, Citi Foundation, HDFC Bank, Kellogg, NABARD, Visa Foundation, Walmart Foundation, etc. to execute large scale, multi-year programs, based on our core areas of expertise. In the past, we have worked with various organisations including Abbott, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Cairn Energy, IFC Advisory, JP Morgan, National Rural Livelihoods Promotion Scheme and USAID.
- We were awarded as the "#1 Non-Profit" among 1,000 non-profit organisations in the category of "reducing poverty" by ImpactMatters, an independent charity evaluator which rates charities on impact and cost-effectiveness.
- TechnoServe will launch a multi-year 'Green Entrepreneurship Accelerator' program, to support small and growing businesses with a green focus ("Green SGBs") to scale up and improve the environmental impact of their products and services. The ambitious program, in partnership with a multinational fortune 500 company, aims to move the needle towards a circular economy. The program team will work with Green SGBs directly impacting the businesses in waste, textiles and forestry industries over the next 3-4 years. The program also aims to generate robust evidence on 'what works' for Green SGBs, which can be incorporated into green accelerators worldwide.
Role: Assistant Manager / Manager - Communications
Reporting to: Practice Lead / Program Lead
- The role supports internal and external communications of TechnoServe India.
- The Communications Manager will play a key role in mobilization of Green SGBS, developing media partnerships, project communication, branding, and engagements with other partners and stakeholders.
SCOPE & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop media partnerships and coordinate with their teams for a large scale solicitation
- Develop a communications and branding plan to inform stakeholders on project benefits and to ensure the success of the intervention
- Plan a series of online and in-person events for the launch of the program and dissemination of learnings at the end of the program
- Prepare communication material to enable partnerships with funders, the government, and industry networks.
- Develop donor communication materials on project impact and accomplishments
- Media outreach including print, online magazines, TV/radio, writing feature articles, etc.
- Develop content for TechnoServe official Social Media channels such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, etc., as directed
- Develop & update impact reports, white papers, brochures, media kits, key messages, fact sheets, & other collateral material as needed
- Create and coordinate public speaking engagements with/for TechnoServe spokespersons
- Coordinate videography and photography for/of events, projects, activities, etc. for use in publications, media, etc. and ensure appropriate releases are signed and filed; maintain graphics, photo and video files and archives
- Gather success stories and project news from program staff for use in all communication (internal & external)
- Assist with the development and implementation of Public Relations plans in consultation with senior management
- Other duties as assigned
SKILLS REQUIRED:
- BA or higher degree in journalism, public relations, development communications, or related field
- Demonstrated minimum of 5-10 years' work experience in one or more of these areas
- Highly organized, attention to detail, results oriented
- Exceptional verbal, written, & presentation skills
- Original content writing and strong editing skills in English; familiarity with AP style
- Language proficiency in Hindi & working knowledge of other Indian languages desired
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office computer programs, Google Drive and Google Suite
- Basic design/layout experience desired using design software; video editing skills would be an advantage
- Exposure to video production and editing processes
- Should be a self-starter and have the ability to work independently and creatively find solutions to challenges
- Team player with abilities and desire to interact with people at all levels
- Ability to work effectively with program teams
- Must be able to travel independently between multiple work sites
