Technology Lead - Python & Web Projects - Finance Domain

What the team does:

D-Tech stands for Discretionary Tech. The team operates at the cross-road of Technology and Finance where they partner with the following business groups by building software and tools that support the entire life cycle of a trade which includes pre/during/post trade activities.

- FE (Fundamental Equities): FE deals with trading based on fundamental analysis including long short arbitrage, mergers and acquisitions, and event driven strategies.

- CAS (Convertible Arbitrage Strategy): CAS attempts to identify and buy undervalued convertible bonds, using volatility and volatility forecasts, credit spreads and interest rates, dividend yields, and other complex factors to help determine value.

- CROP (Credit Opportunities): CROP seeks to capitalize on investment opportunities created by situations of financial distress or transition (e.g., by investing in companies that are undervalued because they are in crisis, and thereby profiting from those that stabilize)

How it impacts the overall firm or where it fits in:

- A discretionary business unit takes trading decisions based on fundamental analysis and market research. The challenge is in accurately forecasting performance of companies ahead of the competitors.

- The software that they create are linked directly to the performance of the investments and hence there is a very high impact of the work that is done by the team.

Pre-Trade:

- Alternative data-driven research and analysis

- Efficient storage and processing of large amount of data

- Infrastructure to ensure high quality of data

- Filings analysis and research

During Trade:

- Portfolio optimization

- Real-time portfolio management and trading tools

- Price discovery for complex financial instruments

Post-Trade:

- Auto-Hedging processes

- PNL reporting

- Risk analysis

- Liquidity analysis

Technology Stack:

The team primarily works in Python with some part of applications maintained in Java. Many of the applications are web based and built using latest technologies such as Node, React/Redux. For data storage, the team works on relational databases, NoSQL databases, AWS, etc.

What will you do on a day to day basis or what will you learn:

You will be working on the above mentioned Pre-Trade, During Trade and Post-Trade activities.

A subset of the team works on data projects in collaboration with Quants and Data Analysts to build infrastructure for forecasting companies- performance using alternative data. The work entails:

- Designing infrastructure for storing and performing operations over large amount of data

- Enriching alternative datasets

- Implementing data-driven forecast models

- Designing APIs to make data access easy and streamlined

- Ensuring high quality of data for analysis

Who are we looking for:

- We are looking for strong developers to join our software development team based in Hyderabad.

- The ideal candidate should have 6-9 years of experience in some or all of the following - Python, web development/JS and databases (SQL Server).
