Technical Specialist for Climate Smart Agriculture


Role Objective


Our Clients, Energy Specialists team is looking for an additional motivated new colleague in the role of a Technical Specialist for Climate Smart Agriculture.

The position is in Mumbai and is meant for dedicated candidates with demonstrable relevant background and sound interest in sustainable finance.

Main Tasks

- Provide technical advice to the investment team in the assessment of Climate smart agriculture (CSA) technologies / practices including renewable energy (RE) & energy efficiency (EE) technologies in key target countries

- Engage with investee companies to evaluate the technical and environmental & social (E&S) impacts of CSA/ RE / EE projects against specific guidelines of the fund

- Engage with the investee companies to facilitate the implementation of CSA technologies / practices

- Carryout GHG impact assessment of CSA (technologies / practices)/RE/EE technologies

- Liaise proactively and constructively with a wide variety of investment support functions (TA and E&S) to assist the technical & E&S due diligence process

- Carry out technical and environmental & social due diligence (ESDD) of CSA/RE/EE projects

- Gather key market data related to CSA technologies and practices into a format that can be analyzed and presented for decision makers

- Monitor critical technological trends in CSA/RE/EE sectors, summarizing them in concise and thoughtful summaries

- Support the team in monitoring the CSA/RE/ EE portfolio in terms of GHG impact and environmental and social risk management systems

- Support the team in preparing Monthly / Quarterly / Annual performance reports

- Carry out technical and environmental & social due diligence (ESDD) of CSA/RE/EE projects

- Gather key market data related to CSA technologies and practices into a format that can be analyzed and presented for decision makers

Education - Degree in engineering

Experience

- Minimum of 6-8 years of work experience either in CSA/RE/EE project development / consulting or investment firm; experience working in a consulting firm is preferred

- Background and/or experience in Climate smart agriculture / Renewable Energy / Energy Efficiency projects

Your Skills

Key skills required includes the understanding of the following aspects:

- GHG accounting principles / methodologies

- Climate smart agriculture practices / technologies

- Climate risk assessments for CSA practices / agriculture value chain

- Renewable energy & energy efficiency technologies

- Managing large data sets and ability to perform independent research

- Strong competence in the use of presentational and quantitative tools

Candidate Profile

- Demonstrated personal and/or professional interest in development finance and/or climate finance that has led to a nuanced understanding of the unique challenges found in emerging markets

- Highly reliable, flexible and self-reliant personality with good intercultural skills

- Independence of opinion while being a team player

- Ability to work in a fast-paced, unstructured environment

Language Skills

- Superior written and oral communication skills with relevant track record in English
