Technical Head - Project & Design - Data Center/IT infrastructure

JOB PURPOSE:

- The incumbent will be responsible for leading technical teams to set up the Data Center Business for the company

- He/She will design and develop the budget, systems, processes for the Data Center Construction

- The professional will liaise with the Internal and External Stakeholders to get approvals as well as Regulatory Clearances for the Data Center

- The potential candidate will oversee the Data Center design, layout and architecture.

- He/She will provide hands-on project management for strategic department-wide initiatives, inclusive of site selection, technology selection, quality, risk, effort, timeline, cost, resource allocation, system engineering, RFP/SOW creation, vendor selection/management, solution delivery, and implementation

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

KPIs :

Data Center Design/Architecture and Build

- Site Validation and Geo-Technical Soil testing

- Designing a scalable Data Center to manage present and future capacity based on business projection

- Setting up concept design, scope, and expectation with Design Consultants

- Engineering for efficient designs for floor space, power density and cooling efficiency

- Responsible for DC layout including white spaces, grey spaces, racks, etc.

- Internal approvals including Capex budget, RFP preparation with master design, MEP design, Complete Fire Systems design and implementation, Fit-outs, Testing & Commissioning

Timely & Cost-Efficient Delivery of Project

- Close coordination with Real Estate, Planning, Engineering and Design teams for site due diligence, site test fits, etc.

- Vendor pre-qualification, on boarding, RFI/RFQ

- Coordination with consultants on approvals and progress

- Responsible for meeting timelines and quality criteria for new Data Centres in conjunction with the DC team & ensure compliance with laws and regulations

Driving Synergies between project & business objectives

- Analysing and defining requirement of new projects for planning purpose

- Scheduling and sequencing of activities involved in timely completion of projects

- Micro level project scheduling and execution

- Dashboard release for site quality, cost, delivery & safety

- Managing key challenges and change

- Planning the site activities, identifying site constraints, and recommending solutions

- Installation, testing and commissioning of system (IST- Integrated system testing)

- Constant inspection of work at site, explaining technical drawings to contractors on the site to expedite execution

- Documentation of ongoing projects and handing over manuals management

- Project handover to internal team (Operations)

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

- Strong technical knowledge of DC Design, Architecture and Project Management

- Proven experience in setting up Data Centers from scratch - leading greenfield/brownfield projects

- Proven track record of building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders including regulatory authorities, vendor partners, consultants, etc.

- Understanding of project management principles with the ability to establish and monitor entire project life cycle

Educational Qualifications & Experience:

- BE/BTech/MTech from a reputed Institute

- 15-20 years of experience in Data Center or IT infrastructure with 5+ years in the leadership role
