
Tax Manager - US Taxation - Federal & State Tax Returns (10-15 yrs)
- Supervise, mentor, and support a team of US tax staff and seniors across engagements.
- Provide technical guidance, training, and constructive feedback.
- Assist with onboarding and teaching interns/staff on tax software and departmental procedures.
- Monitor team productivity and ensure deadlines are met with accuracy.
- Tax Compliance & Review
- Review and oversee preparation of federal and state tax returns, including:
- Form 1065 - Partnerships
- Form 1120 - Corporations
- Form 1120-S - S Corporations
- Form 1040 - Individual tax returns
- Form 990 - Non-Profits
- Review tax accrual workpapers and ensure accuracy.
- Perform primary review of tax returns and written tax advice, as assigned.
- Assist with consolidated returns, multi-state filings, and other complex compliance areas.
- Respond to routine IRS and state agency inquiries or audits.
- Stay current with tax law changes and assess impact on clients.
- Client Service
- Act as a primary contact for assigned clients on day-to-day tax matters.
- Provide timely updates to clients on progress and resolve basic queries.
- Deliver high-quality service by supervising staff closely during engagements.
- Identify potential technical tax issues and escalate when needed.
- Support planning and administration of client engagements to ensure successful completion.
Position Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA qualification preferred (or in progress).
- Minimum 8-12 years of public accounting experience in US Taxation.
- At least 1-2 years of prior supervisory experience.
- Strong knowledge of US federal and state taxation, including Forms 1065, 1120, 1120-S, and 1040.
- Familiarity with GAAP and basic accounting procedures.
- Proficiency with tax software (GoSystem, CCH, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to handle multiple engagements and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong client service orientation and ability to coach junior team members.
