Head Nutrition (Tata Trusts) and Executive Director - The India Nutrition Initiative (TINI) Background :&nbsp; - The Tata Trusts is the oldest philanthropic organisation working on addressing critical social problems through strategic programming and grant making. Nutrition has been an important area of engagement for the Trusts in last five years. The Tata Trusts- strategy for combating malnutrition is an integrated approach that focuses (i) ensuring adequate nutrition among communities to promote optimal growth and mitigate health risks related to undernutrition; (ii) strengthening existing government run nutrition programmes and schemes through appropriate modifications and support; and (iii) providing recommendations and data-backed advocacy to policymakers by developing research-backed products and extending technology support and data analytics. - Tata Trusts have set up The India Nutrition Initiative (TINI), to drive its work on nutrition. Tata Trusts are looking for a Head of Nutrition who would also serve as Executive Director for TINI to lead Tata Trusts- nutrition strategy and programming in India. The Tata Trusts is looking to create innovative and sustainable models to improve the nutrition of populations at risk of malnutrition. Key Accountability : 1. Lead the Nutrition team of Tata Trusts and TINI 2. Identify, build and manage the partnerships needed to support program implementation 3. Define an annual work plan including finances and staffing plan for nutrition program 4. Optimally manage the financial resources approved by Trusts and raised from other donors 5. Manage necessary processes to finalize grants, agreements and implementation plans 6. Oversee implementation, management and monitoring of nutrition program and projects funded by the Trusts 7. Prepare reports for Tata Trusts management, donors and others as required Brief Job Description : 1 Responsible for playing a key role in the development of Tata Trusts country level nutrition strategy, and the identification of the Trusts- niche in country, building relationships with key stakeholders including within government institutions, the donor community, non-profits and the private sector. 2 Responsible for Identifying concrete opportunities for the Trusts engagement in country, in line with the Tata Trusts- overall strategy and comparative advantage. 3 Lead and manage all aspects of the Trusts- nutrition investments, including defining priorities, program and project implementation budget and staffing needs. 4 Serve as the Executive Director for The India Nutrition Initiative (TINI), set up by Tata Trusts to execute nutrition programmes on the ground 5 Provide management and technical support for the development, planning, implementation, and monitoring of program activities, and monitoring of executing agencies. 6 Represent the Trusts- interest in stakeholder meetings including liaising with government officials at the central and state levels to support implementation of the nutrition programs of the Trusts. 7 Contribute to the development of a knowledge base on the Trusts- portfolio, specifically, and on national and regional trends in nutrition and related issues that might impact the Trusts- programming 8 Contribute expertise as required to teams created by the Trusts to address specific issues at state and national levels. Skills/ Competencies: 1. Strategic thinking and excellent analytical skills 2. Excellent management, negotiation, and advocacy skills 3. Ability to operate within the corporate and public sectors to effectively liaise with private companies, development agencies, and governments in different cultures 4. Ability to use initiative, prioritize, multi-task, and work well under pressure to meet deadlines 5. Clear and systematic thinking that demonstrates good judgment, expert problem solving, and creativity 6. Strong communication skills in multicultural, multi-lingual environments 7. Ability to work effectively as part of a multicultural team 8. Ensure legal and statutory compliances for non-profit Trusts Experience: - At least fifteen years experience in developing and managing projects in a multi-cultural environment. Experience of working with the government, the private sector, food industry and international organizations - Experience in delivering nutrition or food fortification programs or other public health programs - Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment and matrix structure is critical - Experience building and leading teams Education: - Masters or higher degree in food science, nutrition, public health or a suitable equivalent
