Minimum Qualification : B. Tech./M tech/MSc/PhD

Preferably in Metallurgy, Physics, Mechanical Engineering

Candidates with Patent Agent certification, LLB or IP related qualification will be preferred.

Minimum Experience : 3-7 yrs (Must have at least 3-5 years of experience in IPR /technology research primarily working in patent domain and should have experience of drafting patent specifications, patent analytics, IP portfolio management, white paper writing or technical writing)

The Context / Purpose of the Job :

- Creation, filing and harvesting of Intellectual property.

- Drafting Patent applications and reviewing the patent drafts in the domain of metallurgy, chemistry, Automation, and manufacturing domains.

- Patent Portfolio Management.

- Training employees to protect IP rights and respect the IP rights of others.

- Managing and prosecution of patent prosecution matters, preparing office action responses.

- Advising technical and business stakeholders on IP issues.

- Advising researchers and Innovators on patentability, inventiveness aspects.

- IP Contracting on subject matter related to licensing, joint research, contract research, technical consulting.

Key Responsibilities :

- IP creation & protection

- Taking decisions on continuing the patent applications

- IPC based searches

- Managing Service Providers on Several IPR issues, such as National Phase of PCT Application Filing in Various Jurisdictions

- Supporting Research & Development in ideation, creation and development

- Auditing patents and other IPRs from time to time

- Supervising secretarial staff in patent docketing and contracts docketing

- Technology mapping, Design analysis

- Review the invention with inventors

- Patent Portfolio Development

- Draft claims, embodiments

- Capture necessary details required to write an invention disclosure in the meeting

- IP training to engineers at various locations on identifying inventions.

- Designing and maintaining patent databases

Threshold Skills :

- Sound understanding of basic technical concepts from Capability to absorb concepts from varied domains quickly

- Having sound knowledge of Indian Patent Act 1970, PCT

- IP searching/FTO/Invalidity

- Expertise to use IP Databases/technical databases

- Patent Drafting

- Patent Prosecution

- National Patent Filing/PCT Filing

- Due Diligence of Patent portfolios and identifying emerging IP trends

- Patent portfolio management

- Patent landscaping

- IP audits

- Exposure to US and EP patent laws
