Major components of the stack are highlighted below - Operating system: We use a trimmed down version of the Linux - Database system: An object-oriented database written by Tally to support single view, replication, distributed and multi-tenancy - Web server & app server: We shall write our own hosting platform that can handle millions of connections per server - Communication and Security: We write our own communication and security layer which cannot be broken even when source code is available - 4GL Engine: Tally shall define its own language and build a VM to run the programs written using this language - Applications: Applications shall be built using the 4GL developed by Tally Job Title/Designation: Director - Engineering Role: Lead a Research & Execution focused Software development team Experience: 15-22 years What will you be doing? - Responsible for the overall platform design and engineering - Engage with product management and CTO office team to drive the functionality, usability and other non-functional requirements and hence the solution for the same - Ensure on-time launches by managing design, development, and integration efforts according to a standard or customized project plan - Write, edit and/or review customer-facing aids (guides, templates, webinars) in integration efforts - Participate in improving function excellence by recommending changes in policies and procedures to drive efficiency and effectiveness - Participate in developing and continuously improving SW engineering practices across all phases including Design, Coding, Testing, CI/CD and thus enhance overall efficiency of Research organization - Build, Manage and Lead a technically competent team and keep the players motivated - Support team to adjust (within or across teams) to changing priorities to ensure timely delivery - Facilitate problem solving and collaboration across teams - Strive for team consensus and lead them towards win-win agreements - Identify areas of improvement for teams and participate in skill development by providing people feedback team members - Work with functional leads to get people enabled on required skills for the project - Recognize and celebrate teams and team member's accomplishments and exceptional performance - Create an environment oriented to trust, open communication, creative thinking, and cohesive team effort - Must have and develop a culture of - playing to win- Who are we looking for? - A motivated, self-driven individual, experienced in C++ platform engineering with expertise in delivering products with great quality as per schedule - Should have strong background in systems programming, algorithms and distributed computing techniques - Must have the inclination to dig deep into architecture, design and technical aspects of the product/deliverable - Act as product consultant/expert by learning Tally Way of Product design and engineering, both from a technical implementation standpoint as well as a business process standpoint, and then leveraging that knowledge to help engineering team to design and implement the solution - Deep programming experience in C++ - Query designing and optimization - Object oriented programming / UML / Business process/scenarios modelling
