The role combines close strategy formulation with the client bank's CxO team and the chance to be a part of one of the largest digital banking rollouts in Africa. The Senior Consultant/acting Head of Operations will helm the neo-bank's merchant acquisition strategy and execution effort. Roles and Responsibilities: STRATGEY : - Create Strategy and Org plan for managing Operations with an Automated Design for No Activity mindset for core operations leveraging Straight-through-processing APIs - Lead Operations and Business Services departments covering all digital banking services - Customer onboarding, Account opening and Products, Payments and Investigations, Banking, AML, KYC and regulations - Heading operations setup which includes contact center, product operations, customer communication and content, process design and automation, planning and business intelligence - Plan for unexpected risks and mitigation in a dynamic environment to provide more flexibility to the Acquisition and Growth segments as it aims to undertake massive growth - Create program level view including implementation of new IT and Operations systems and Org from resource management to risk and control frameworks - Inject deep knowledge of banking products, processes, data management, systems and international regulations to the Neo-bank to help fast track growth - Vendor network masterplan for QR code, marketing collaterals, contract staff as field agents etc - Create masterplan for inhouse and vendor customer service teams to deliver a seamless customer and merchant experience including - Issue reduction, Proactive scanning and detection of issues, Efficient handling of complaints, measuring and improving Customer and Merchant Net Promoter Score, Operations cost reduction and Effort and Turn Around Time reduction for all processes - Defining operational aspects of all payments and banking products such as Merchant Payouts, Comp and Benefits, Customer current and salary accounts, Accounts Receivables and Payables - Lead Service and CX delivery master-planning for all customers and merchants inline with business plans and strategic objectives including business processes and controls including "compliance as a competitive advantage- while adhering to applicable national laws and regulations OPERATIONS : - Program management of entire spectrum of operational areas: Payments, Regulation, Treasury, Credit, Securities, Banking, AML, New Products Due Diligence and more.` - Manage Risk and Controls for Operations by performing periodic risk reviews, assessing exposures and implementing controls for critical processes such as Merchant on-boarding, Customer Wallet Opening, Customer KYC and Settlements - Administering vendor performance management system to ensure successful execution of projects for marketing, sales, customer success, and product with help of third-party stakeholders - Manage projects within budgets, set timeliness and with required effectiveness and efficiency - Support Acquisition and Growth on Go-to-market including owning war-room operations - Lead process management for all aspects of the Digital bank including Customer Services, Service Quality, Cash management, Centralized back office functions, Clearing, IT support etc - Monitor the activities of key competitors to ensure that we are in a position to respond appropriately to protect existing business and generate new business - Evolve Operating Model in line with Digital Platform / Technology Stack taking along all operations functions and translate to improved end to end customer journey across product and service offerings - Ensure operations are able to consistently meet capacity and efficiency targets for all relevant business lines: Payments, Cards Business, Branchless Banking, Mobile Banking, ATM operability, e-Commerce, Merchant Acquiring, Loyalty and Alliance, Digital Risk and Compliance, Contact Centre, Digital Marketing and Data Analytics - Monitor and control operations budget in-line with financial masterplan OPS RISK : - Manage exposure to external and internal risks at the service delivery front, including adherence to procedures, optimum cash management, and physical security of bank staff and assets - Manage the Business Continuity Plan from a commercial, legal, regulatory and funding perspective - Implement Controls Framework for people, processes and systems taking into account Risk, Experience and costs, with the aim to ultimate deliver a competitive advantage through compliance - Analyse impact and put in place countermeasures for evolving laws and regulations on the digital business model, including clients, customers, staff, processes and systems - Lead and implement the risk management framework including ongoing identification, assessment, monitoring and reporting of key exposures and risks and the management of these key risks - Escalate serious regulatory breaches (or where risk tolerances have been breached) to Exco management and ensure actions are taken quickly to remediate and/or activities are ceased POLICY : - Form cross-industry consensus on Digital operations / Financial Crime Risk to effectively interface with the Central Bank and other regulators and help shape regulations to protect consumer rights - Engage various stakeholders across industry in implementing new or improved processes and operational policies as well as reporting practices to Regulators - Help shape legal and regulatory practices that help our business in being viewed as front-runner for national and international institutional investors - Lead industry in injection of innovative technologies for financial services such as Data Science, AI etc - Support the engagement of regulators and to educate on regulatory best practices in emerging products pipeline such as lending, investments and new products - Engage with Legal, Compliance and Risk teams to create the regulatory landscape for digital banking Applicant Requirements : Please apply to us only if, - You have spent at least 2 years in senior role handling responsibilities very similar to the ones described above and you have intimately dealt with most of the aspects mentioned in the Roles and Responsibilities section -
