JOB DESCRIPTION:

Job Title: Deputy Manager, Scientific Operations and Business Strategy

Job Location: Hyderabad, India

Reporting to: Senior Manager, Business Ops and Strategy, Department head

Job Grade: 7 II

Core Purpose of the Role : The person in this role will have strategic inputs to the business on multiple fronts including (but not limited to) business strategy assistance, operational excellence, resource and revenue management tools and processes and largely enabling the business on multiple fronts

Role Accountabilities:

- Enable the Department head with the precise and timely reporting of resources, revenue data in the formats agreed for MERM DC, revenue and resource projection and management for multiple operating sites.

- Creation and implementation of Governance mechanism (accepted by OU) and project charter for smooth onboarding of new and existing clients.

- Collaborative management of workforce on the ground from recruitment to replacement in collaboration with the HR, finance, PM.

- Identification of gaps in processes across the enabling functions and assisting them with the solutions.

- Identification of resource needs and put up the optimum teams (numbers and skills) across the EFs through Business partners.

- Assist in Creation of business cases

- Planning, budgeting, forecasting and ensuring the cross functional collaboration with EFs to ensure business continuity

- Enable the effective management and monitoring of the SQDECC for quality every month through the respective responsible leaders.

- Anytime audit readiness for all the sites; procure ISO certification before the end of FY for Hyderabad at par with Bengaluru.

Accountabilities as a Syngene Leader (only for Leadership Hires):

- Champion effective Environment, Occupational Health, Safety and Sustainability (EHSS) practices for the company and oversee compliance with those practices within Biologics business. Play an active leadership role in monitoring and verifying safety performance through Gemba walks and other safety-led activities.

- Foster a corporate culture that promotes an environment, occupational health, safety, and sustainability (EHSS) mindset as well as the highest standards of quality, integrity, and compliance.

Specific requirements for this role:

1. Experience:


- Total of 8 to 10 years of experience from reputed CRO/CDMO/Product/Services/Consulting with at least three years as an operations/project manager and an experience of working in a multi-cultural setting

- Exceptions can be made for candidates with extraordinary credentials with commensurate adjustments in job grade

2. Demonstrated Capability:

a. Comprehensive knowledge of Operations/Business excellence like Black Belt, six sigma/project management disciplines

b. Thorough knowledge of project management software (preferably Microsoft Project and Project Online) and analytics using Microsoft Excel (preferably with exposure to AI/ML)

c. Fair knowledge of the business landscape, the scientific landscape, and the compliance frameworks - Fair understanding of finance, modelling, and simulation

d. Demonstrated experience managing cross-functional projects with empathy in a fast-paced, innovative, dynamic environment while remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful, and efficient; ability to resolve conflicts in a win-win manner

3. Education:

- Degree in disciplines relevant to the life sciences industry; preferably with qualifications in operational excellence/Project management/MBA in operations management is desirable.

- A globally recognized Black Belt/project management certification is highly desirable

Skills and Capabilities:

- Fluent in English, with excellent verbal and written communication; proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint

- Collaborative team player with the ability to influence irrespective of hierarchies

- Problem solver; anticipates and develops solutions relevant to customers

- Specialization and scientific knowledge relevant to the operating unit
