Synchrony - AVP - Risk Analytics - Strategy Validation (5-10 yrs)

Role Summary/Purpose:


- The selected candidate will be a AVP on the Risk Analytics Team in India, that rolls up into Synchrony Financial India.


- The AVP, Risk Analytics Strategy Validation will be responsible for cyclical validation of existing Customer Facing strategies and non-model tools including the concurrent assessment of strategy and non-model tool proposals and changes to existing strategies, and other portfolio monitoring activities.


- The role will additionally support any required continuous monitoring within these responsibilities.


- This position is remote, where you have the option to work from home. On occasion we may request for you to commute to our nearest office for in person engagement activities such as team meetings, training and culture events.

Essential Functions / Responsibilities:


- Provide Customer Facing Validation(CFV) on strategies and non-model tools that align to the customer facing functions including Growth, Operations, Collections and Recovery.


- Work with the broader Customer Facing Operational Risk Oversight team to conduct periodic conformance review, portfolio monitoring and other oversight activities.


- Work with Lead Reviewer on CFV team and serve as key contributor while performing independent validations of existing Customer Facing strategies and non-model tools to gauge efficaciousness of criteria and performance of champion/challenger strategies where applicable, compare expected versus actual results, confirm proper implementation, accuracy/completeness of existing documentation and appropriateness of strategy monitoring.


- Leverage advanced technical expertise to translate documentation of Customer Facing strategies and non-model tool criteria into SAS code to assist completing the validation.


- Document results of validations to assist Lead Reviewer with producing detailed white paper reports that will ultimately be shared with first, second, and third line stakeholders, regulators and Senior Leadership and be leveraged to drive quality improvement opportunities across reviewable strategies.


- Assist Lead Reviewer with validation results meetings with stakeholders. Help maintain timelines and feedback loop with Strategy teams to ensure all applicable findings in eGRC system are mitigated as per the chosen timeline.


- As needed, participate in the independent assessment of new Customer Facing Strategies and non-model tool proposals, as well as requests to modify existing strategies as part of SYF Working Groups and provide insights to any material risks identified.


- Champion the build, maintenance and any expansion of any continuous monitoring required as part the validation and oversight process.


- Where applicable, perform ad-hoc or deep-dive analyses to better understand the materiality of concern with regards to new strategy proposals or modifications.


- Work with other Risk functions across the second line of defense, including Model Development & Governance, Operational Risk, Risk Testing and Compliance to increase awareness of validation results, create synergies and avoid redundancies.


- Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned.


Qualifications / Requirements:


- Bachelors degree with 4+ Years of working experience in Financial Services with a strong understanding of analytics or in lieu of a degree, 6+ Years of working experience in Financial Services with a strong understanding of analytics


- 2+ years experience with SAS/SQL or other transferable logic-based programming.


- Experience working with Decision Trees and other statistical tools


- Strong written/oral communication skills


Shift Timing : 2 PM to 11 PM IST


Desired Qualifications:


- Good understanding of USA credit business market


- Strong Leadership skills


- Credit card analytics experience


- Exposure to R, Python and Machine learning tools
