Title : Assistant Vice President, Model Development (TST)

Role Summary/Purpose :

The selected candidate will be part of Analytics Center of Excellence rolling up to Synchrony,

Hyderabad. A critical role AVP, Model Development, will be responsible for providing the thought leadership and lead analytical support to develop, document, validate, implement, and monitor the build of statistical and machine learning models.

Selected candidate will use their business analysis, process, and modeling knowledge to lead a

team of analysts/managers while managing multiple initiatives and deliver results within deadlines and with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail. This is a great opportunity for a modeler/statistician/data analyst with experience in people leadership.

Essential Functions / Responsibilities :

- Lead model development team in building Statistical and Machine Learning models

- Provide thought leadership to the team, manage a team of about 4+ highly talented professionals and contribute to organization wide initiatives

- Responsible for delivery of various engagements of the team viz., model development, documentation, validation, testing, monitoring of numerous analytical models

- Evaluate various business problems and propose efficient solutions

- Enabling portfolio teams to use relevant models to come up with Optimal Strategies

- Develop alternative predictive methodologies / tools to challenge the existing methodologies

- Proactively manage strong working relationships to maintain stakeholder satisfaction

- Assist in analyzing the current and future model landscape, technologies, data frameworks and implementation platforms in line with internal as well as industry best practices

- Develop and execute initiatives such as conducting applicable research and implementing industry best practices in modeling methodologies and management of model risk

- Maintain current/develop new analytical reports and presentations for senior management, executive committees, and regulatory exams

- Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned

- Perform in depth analysis on large data sets, build models (when required) and prepare analysis and reports to support discussions on key analytics and model risks

- Oversee the creation and maintenance of required documentation for all owned deliverables

- Support the model risk management process including model validation, response to independent review questions and assisting in the development of action plans to address model governance/validation findings

Qualifications / Requirements :

- Prior hands-on experience in building predictive models (using techniques like logistic, linear regression, decision tree, clustering, Random Forest, XG Boost etc.)

- Strong Programming skills (SQL, SAS and Python/R) with minimum 8+ years of work experience

- 5+ years of experience in an analytics/quantitative role

- 3+ years of experience in managing a team

- Effective communication skills

- Post-Graduate/Phd/Engineering in any quantitative discipline (i.e. Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering etc.)

- Experience in creating Excel reports (Pivot tables, Graphs)

Desired Qualifications :

- Exposure to big data environment

- Knowledge in Pyspark, Scala

- Experience with the application of regulatory requirements for Model Risk

- Exposure to Tableau or equivalent data visualization tools

- Understanding of US credit card or retail business

- Exposure to marketing and retail concepts

- Thorough knowledge of complete retail databases (Oracle/EDL)

- Proven ability in delivering and reviewing business results with clients and peers

- Experience in handling large data, creating reports and giving business insights
