Swiggy - General Manager - Merchandising (7-11 yrs) Premium

Swiggy is seeking an entrepreneurial leader with a deep customer sense to own and drive Instamart's merchandising efforts across all key campaigns, i.e. festivals, events and topical themes. The merchandising leader will own and design the end to end customer journey across the app for all tentpole campaigns, including planning all the storefront elements as well as key use cases, assortment, regional nuances, and so on.


- They will work closely with Category Management, Product/Engineering, Design, Content and Marketing teams to establish the consumer objective of each tentpole campaign, develop a wireframe with a clear Information Architecture of all the pages that are part of the shopping journey, prepare creative briefs for the design/creative teams, develop a detailed execution plan with clear timelines and then relentlessly program manage the overall execution until go-live.


- They will also be responsible for monitoring the performance of campaigns on a daily basis after go-live (using both quantitative and qualitative analyses) and course correcting along the way. The leader will own goals around user engagement, conversions and NPS at an individual campaign level.

The Head of Merchandising will also be responsible for

- Owning the annual campaign calendar of Instamart as well as adding new topical/regional campaigns to the calendar by tapping into high potential themes that fall under the ambit of grocery quick commerce

- Building and institutionalising SOPs as well as developing capabilities and playbooks that essentially help us manage execution better at scale, continuously improve ROI of campaigns by reducing effort and timelines, and instill consistency and a high standard of excellence in our campaign consumer experience

- Driving a distinct competitive advantage for Instamart through Merchandising (main goal)

- The ideal candidate is innovative, enthusiastic, and customer-focused with great judgment, creative problem-solving skills, and ability to lead a team as well as work with a large number of cross functional stakeholders. This person will have demonstrated skill with technical tools & processes through app management, digital marketing, advanced data analysis or other relevant merchandising experience.


- He/she has to be passionate, organized, and comfortable managing multiple cross-functional projects at once and have proven success managing a team.

Responsibilities Include :

- Serve as the subject matter expert on Merchandising for Instamart

- Own and develop the annual Campaign Calendar for Instamart inclusive of all key festivals, events and topical themes

- Conceptualise and execute the end to end customer journey for each Campaign. Partner across Category Management, Product Management, Merchandising Operations, Brand and Central Merchandising teams to take relevant inputs ahead of time and develop the overall consumer journey

- Own all the creative briefs that go to the Design teams and own the final quality of all the visual and copy elements in the consumer journey

- Prepare a detailed execution plan with clear roles and responsibilities assigned to each of the above teams and ensure delivery against committed timelines

- Relentlessly drive improvements to the Merchandise experience through the development and execution of strategic and creative ideas

- Analyze merchandising metrics and related data as well as direct consumer feedback to identify opportunities to improve merchandising and the customer experience of campaigns. Implement continuous improvements.

- Communicate findings and results with senior leaders throughout Swiggy

Skills/Requirements :

- Thrives in a high growth, entrepreneurial, and ambiguous environment

- Demonstrated experience in in-app merchandising for large scale events and campaigns in a consumer internet setup

- Demonstrated experience in developing and executing storefront strategies in an ambiguous environment while leveraging inputs from a multitude of sources to tell a story and impact the overall consumer experience

- Strong understanding of category as well as design and demonstrated experience in dealing with category managers and creative/design teams in a leadership capacity

- Evidence of "strive for excellence" and a "bias for action" when time is tight and stakes are high

- Proven experience and passion for working across functions and with c-level leaders, synthesizing multiple points of view and owning a coherent action plan, all while negotiating and influencing others

- Effective oral and written communication skills with the ability to tailor communication style based on the audience
