We have a presence in 21 cities and the empaneled vendor for central government's rooftop solar program in 12 states. Position Summary: In this role, you will function as a public affairs and government relations manager at a zonal level within the Policy and Advocacy team. The role demands high level of details, networking, understanding business strategy required to operate, and establishing strong relationships with government stakeholders. Position Responsibility: Relationship management - Develop and maintain relationships and a ready communications channel with senior decision makers relevant to SunEdison's business within the concerned zone, including but not limited to key policy influencers within state electricity distribution companies (discoms), state energy nodal agencies, state energy departments and state electricity regulatory commissions. - Play an active role in thought leadership initiatives to build a positive and favorable image for SunEdison with the above stated organizations. - Facilitate meetings with stakeholders for visiting senior SunEdison executives. - Support SunEdison sales and operations team in problem solving and high-level liaising with state discom officials regarding net metering and other government project execution. Advocacy and engagement - Coordinate with the central policy and advocacy team and implement strategies to engage state and national government agencies and deliver business value. - Conduct regular meetings and presentations with the concerned stakeholders communicating the proposals, recommendations and suggestions the central team has prepared with an aim to influence decision making in the state. - Support in detailed stakeholder mapping by identifying key people across relevant government and non-governmental departments. - Identify potential partnership opportunities for SunEdison and initiate engagements along with the relevant team members - Maintain and communicate an effective monitoring and analysis of major state policy/legislative developments and initiatives likely to impact SunEdison's operations. - Provide input to the central team on government business development opportunities and longer-term business strategies. - Engage with trade associations, research institutions, industry partners, non-profit groups, and other allies in the concerned states to promote and build support for public policy positions. To play your role effectively and efficiently, the following are listed as key credential for the role: - An undergraduate degree in any relevant discipline, and preferably an MBA from a reputed institution - More than 3-4 years of experience in a role that involved government engagement or liaisoning with government agencies - Knowledge of state and central legislative and executive processes - Strong record of leadership in an academic, professional, or extracurricular setting - Ability to work effectively with people at all levels in an organization - Excellent public speaking skills and ability to build relations and negotiations - Ability in networking and building relationships with public officials and their staff - Strong ethics and extremely professional conduct - Ability to communicate complex ideas effectively, both verbally and in writing, in English and at least one of the regional languages (depending on location) - An exceptional awareness to gender diversity and multicultural environment - Knowledge and experience in the solar industry is an advantage
