Position Overview The Company is looking to hire an individual for the role of, Strategy Associate,to work closely with the finance, strategy and operations teams to support them in a variety of ways including, but not limited to, investor relations, fund-raising negotiations, assembling memorandums, building detailed financial models, MIS reports, and presentations and managing negotiations with key partners. The role involves domestic and international travel to represent the company at industry events and to interact with key stakeholders. The role involves cross-functional experience across various verticals such as Product, Operations, Sales, Finance, HR and Marketing. The Ideal Candidate Ideally you are a super Type A, analyst or associate working in a corporate finance/investing role at a global investment bank, global private equity firm or global consulting firm looking to move to a young but very promising fintech startup to gain operational experience at building a fintech company in India. - You should have the desire to move to New Delhi, India, if you are not already there. - You should have at least two years of continuous experience at a leading firm. - You should have spent considerable time building complex, multi-statement, Microsoft Excel financial models that include complex debt schedules that pay down manually and automatically with cash sweep from cash flow statements, which link to income statements and balance sheets. - You should also have significant experience at putting together Powerpoint slides that are stakeholder friendly ie whether youre presenting to potential investors or internal management, the slides should be organized, well thought through and should tell a story. - You should be fast at operating both Excel and Powerpoint. - You should be analytical and calculated in your approach to solving problems. Qualitative Skills: - You should be down to earth, and approachable but at the same time professional, courteous, polite and not be afraid to suggest your own ideas or solutions to challenges. - You should be adaptable, have a thick skin and not be easily offended, and be able to stand up for yourself while not being brash or arrogant. You should be curt with those who require curtness. - You should not give up easily and should not be afraid to learn new skills. - You should be discrete and understand the requirement and necessity for confidentiality. - You should be able to have a professional conversation about whatever might be in the newspaper as well as take an active interest in current and cultural events. - You should be comfortable working in the office and outside of the office on a range of activities yourself and not depending on the hierarchy to getting it done please dont think of yourself as too superior for any job. - You should have common sense and be street smart but at the same time be intellectually curious and have the academic track record to support it. Duties & Responsibilities - Construct multi-statement financial models in Microsoft Excel on a monthly basis that tally up to an annual model - Analyze key metrics from the business and work closely with the analytics and product teams to ensure that information is being calculated appropriately in completing the feedback loop - Own the MIS and work closely with investors to answer questions about the MIS - Work closely with other teams at the company to harvest and mine additional data that stakeholders may look through - Manage third party service providers such as consultants, lawyers, accountants, in managing the company - Drive strategic projects within the company such as new product development, operational efficiencies - Negotiate and drive deals with other participants in the financial services - Contribute to the growth and expansion of the Company - Create market maps and track global innovation - Assist in investor relations - Represent the firm in industry conferences in India and overseas - Help in the firms hiring plans, managing posts on iimjobs and linkedin, etc. Education and Experience - Top 10% ranking throughout academic career at top-tier schools in India or abroad with transcript records available - At least 2 years of work experience from a top-tier investment firm, investment banking firm or consulting firm with relevant experience in lending, financial services, M&A, private equity - History of deal experience what deals did you work on as an investment banker, if you are coming from that background? What types of consulting assignments did you work on. Did you own the bulk of the work that was done, or were you just fifth man on a five man deal team. Can you discuss why the deal or assignment went the way that it did?
