Strategic Business Unit Head (Seamless Business) Multi Billion Dollar Indian Business House, Western Maharashtra






Position Description

The position requires heading the SBU for Top-line and Bottom-line performances. The position acts as a mentor and provides coaching on vision and direction to the SBU Management Team, monitors and manages performance and develop strategies and people to achieve growth, service, and financial goals. The incumbent is expected to communicate SBU Business Plan objectives, vision, and performance to team / individuals and promote development of congenial employee relations to further the production of efficient & quality products. The incumbent should also be keen in identifying development areas for direct and indirect reportees and implement action plans for developing a strong team of employees.

Job Purpose

- To plan, organize, direct, control and manage the SBU with complete responsibility over manufacturing, sales, and support functions, accountable for revenue, cost, and profitability.

- To direct Department Heads in defining goals and objectives and develop strategies to evaluate and meet those goals.

- To act as a change agent by providing the means to foster and support a positive organizational culture.

Job Description

- To oversee SBU operations to ensure production efficiency, quality, service, and cost-effective management of resources. The incumbent shall be responsible for the following: -

Total value chain of the business with customer focus to bring high degree of customer satisfaction, high employee morale, developing and ensuring effective implementation of Business Plan at SBU level.

For developing all operational work instructions and procedures, reviewing manufacturing related metrics and reports, performing capacity analysis, assessing plant capabilities in meeting customer requirements, directing testing & quality control inspection system, and developing production reporting procedures.

For monitoring production schedules, inventory of raw materials and finished products.

For reviewing Department performance reports detailing production levels, raw material usage, down-time, and overall plant production and efficiencies and ensure that approved products are manufactured on schedule and meet quality standards and cost objectives.

To ensure proper response to product quality complaints and monitoring the required corrective and preventive actions.

To drive cost avoidance and cost reduction efforts in the manufacturing operations.

- To drive and develop strong customer base, formulating and monitoring robust sales plan, supporting relationship management for key strategic customers, driving exploration of new markets and regions, assuring timely and accurate completion of all production schedules for timely dispatch of finished goods.

- To participate in strategic planning for the Business Unit, set plant budgets, including PBT and capital expenditures in consultation with Top Management, and define performance goals for direct reportees.

- To lead implementation of Company Policies, best practices, and Standard Operating Procedures to facilitate performance growth, profits and exceed client and company expectations, manage profitability of the Business Unit, and review revenue generation, analyze profit and loss statements and deliver key controllable expenses within budget targets to maximise productivity and profitability.

Competencies Required

The candidate should have adequate knowledge and experience in the following areas: -

- Managing Business Unit in a manufacturing industry, preferably Seamless Pipes.

- Strategic planning and execution.

- Contract Management, Negotiation, and Change Management.

- Examining and re-engineering manufacturing operations and procedures.

- Formulating policy and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures.

- Excellent knowledge of Financial Management and related concepts.

- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, TPM, and TQM

- Knowledge of statutory rules and regulations with respect to safety, environment and labour.

- Working knowledge of SAP.
