Strategic Business Unit Head - Operations - Diesel Exhaust Fluid Unit - Chemicals Firm (15-21 yrs)

Position: Strategic Business Unit Head for a reputed organisation based out of Gurgaon for driving its Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) Business Unit.

Role: The position will involve heading the entire SBU for top-line and bottom-line performance. This is a strategic leadership position responsible to oversee SBU operations to ensure production efficiency, quality, service, and cost-effective management of resources. The position is also responsible for the total value chain of the business with more customer focus which will bring high degree of customer satisfaction, high employee morale, developing and ensuring effective implementation of Business Plan at SBU level and will be reporting to the Group CEO.

Responsibilities:

- Plan, organize, direct, control and manage the SBU with complete responsibility over manufacturing, sales and support functions, accountable for revenue, cost and profitability

- Developing all operational work instructions and procedures, reviewing manufacturing related metrics and reports and undertaking corrective action, coordinating design - production meetings, performing capacity analysis and assessing plant capabilities in meeting customer requirements, directing testing & quality control inspection system and developing production reporting procedures.

- Monitoring production schedules, inventory of raw materials and finished products.

- Co-ordinating with Design and Marketing team and conduct techno-commercial feasibility of projects.

- Reviewing department performance reports detailing production levels, raw material usage, down time and efficiencies and calculating overall plant production and efficiencies and ensure that products are manufactured on schedule meeting the required quality standards and cost objectives.

- Drive and guide the sales and marketing team for development of a strong customer base, formulating and monitoring robust sales plan, supporting relationship management for key strategic customers, driving exploration of new markets and regions, assuring timely and accurate completion of all production schedules for timely dispatch of finished goods.

- Monitor quality complaints and required corrective action.

- Participate in strategic planning for the business unit, set plant budgets, including PBT and capital expenditures and define performance goals for the team.

- Lead implementation of company's operation policies, develop best practices and standard operating procedures to facilitate performance and profitability

- Develop a strategic plan to advance the SBU's mission and objectives and to promote revenue, profitability, and growth and implement it effectively

- Review financial statements to determine progress and status in attaining objectives and revising objectives and plans in accordance with current conditions

- Set up budgets for the SBU and effectively implement the same.

- Manage revenue, PBT, operating cost as a percentage of revenue, cost per unit of production and rejection & rectification as per budget

- Develop total value chain of the business

- Establish and maintain excellent customer relationships

- Develop a strong team and motivates employees for productivity and performance

- Ensure appropriate and satisfactory systems and processes are in place for monitoring performance against plans and budgets

- Provide coaching vision and direction to the SBU management team and monitor performance to achieve growth, service and objectives

Competencies and Skills:

- Excellent knowledge of managing business unit in manufacturing industry (preferably chemical or lubricant industry)

- Knowledge of strategic planning and execution

- Knowledge of contracting, negotiating, and change management

- Knowledge of examining and re-engineering operations and procedures

- Knowledge in formulating policy, and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures

- Excellent knowledge of financial accounting and concepts like EVA, PBAT, ROCE & COGS etc.

- Knowledge of lean manufacturing, six sigma, JIT, Kanban, TPM, FMEA, ERP and BSC

- Knowledge of statutory rules and regulations with respect to safety, environment and labour

- Strategic Orientation, Analytical & Lateral Thinking, Excellent Business Acumen, Decision Making and Problem Solving Skills

- Strong Planning & Organizing, Effective Communication and Presentation Skills

- Leading & Inspiring Mentoring & Coaching, Problem Solving and strong networking skills

Candidate Profile: Graduation in Engineering (preferably Chemical) with a Management degree from a reputed institution with 15-25 years experience- out of which a minimum of 5 years in a similar role with relevant general management experience in manufacturing & sales in the lubricants, oil, petroleum products, chemicals or automotive engineering industry.
