Title: Fixed Income - Data Specialist Domain: Fixed Income Research Location: Bangalore, India Work Hours: Monday - Friday, Any 9 hours between 11:00am to 10:00 pm IST Job description: This role will be part of our Fixed Income IT infrastructure Project at State Street Global Advisors (SSGA), working in our IT Development team. Our team provides development, analysis and support for the Data Loaders, Investment Model Systems for Investment Research teams at SSGA. This is an Individual Contributor role in SSGA IT. Key responsibilities : As a member of the this team, the candidate will utilize his prior work in IT system/infra development to build production systems for automating our fixed income investment processes. On a day to day basis, the job may entail working as a team to resolve a production issue, working on an ongoing development, enhancement to our new/existing models, or interacting with our business partners to prioritize and gather requirements on future initiatives. He will be liable to - Understand financial instruments, basic financial engineering and data items associated with them. - Develop into subject matter expert in fixed income Research domain which covers deep expertise in fixed income data, underlying data infrastructure ( sourcing, curating and delivering) to support research models. - Independently write production worthy model codes in R (to implement models developed by researchers) for production; validate against research code written by researchers. - Good analytical skills, ability to build simple analytics in SQL, Excel and R (or similar platform) and study data patterns independently. - Coordinate and communicate across asset class specific data specialists, developers, Incident Management team, research teams locally/globally. The ideal candidate will be: - A self-starter with excellent organizational, time and relationship management skills. - Very detail oriented with ability to work with both Developers and Business users. - Create end to end infrastructure for data gathering, data cleaning, signal generation &amp; portfolio implementation for the strategies. - Participate in series of associated projects focused on implementation of Machine Learning techniques - Subject Matter Expert (SME) on Coding &amp; DBMS - Integrate changes and new modules to existing codebase, and perform end-to-end validation of the codebase post integration - Prepare deployment packages of codebase for handover to IT - for day-to-day execution - Candidate must be willing to learn and innovate solutions using emerging technologies. Essential Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree from a top tier college is a requirement; Computer Science or Information Technology - 3-5 years hands on work experience in developing database solutions. - Must have architected at least 2-3 data oriented solutions (On Prem/Cloud) for managing large volume of data. - Thought leadership and innovation around data analytics. - Strong hands on experience in Python, R(preferred). - Strong hands on experience in SQL Programming(Oracle/Netezza), Shell scripting etc. - Ability to think strategically about research, data and technical challenges in an enterprise environment. - Experience to write complex SQL queries, stored procedures. Strong in performance tuning and query optimization is essential. - Exposure in any cloud technologies such AWS / GCP / Azure can be an added advantage but not a mandatory skillset. - Preference on having experiences in a financial firm supporting investment applications. - Preference on candidates pursuing CFA Level III/ CFA Chartered holder with investment data experience in assisting investment data applications or research teams. - Preference on having a basic understanding of quantitative finance concepts Note: The above cited duties and responsibilities describe the general nature and level of work performed by people assigned to the job.
