Staff Platform Engineer - Oil & Gas Sector

We are building a key data & analytics capability and service offering within the Identity & Access Management (IAM) domain to provide analytical capabilities both internally and externally to consumers and customers of identity data. Our IAM team are looking for a highly competent Platform Engineer with a data and analytics background to lead the establishment of products and services in this area.

Key Accountabilities:

The role will be part of the Identity & Access Management (IAM) team within Enterprise & Operations (DE&O) with accountability to:

- Develop and own a new or existing product.

- Identify communication needs and facilitate open communication and discussion between partners, acting as a single point of contact by developing, maintaining and working on business engagement strategies and plans.

- Monitor benefits and improvements against the business case, ensuring that all participants are informed and involved throughout

- Own delivery & support, customer experience, value generation

- Lead the activity of the Devops squad under their leadership to ensure everyone is engaged and operating to their maximum efficiency to ensure value from the budget allocated in line with agreed priorities with the business working closely with the business Product Owner.

- Working with IG&E Principal Platform Engineer on planning and maintaining an up-to-date delivery roadmap

- Work closely with the Security Data Services (SDS) data lake team on delivery of use cases into the SDS platform

- Develop and maintain a series of internal and external stakeholder relationships and support project delivery. The role requires ability to influence and inspire change in a positive and impactful way.

- Prioritising backlogs across products and features within the IAM Data & Analytics services

- Ensuring devOps teams are working efficiently, removes blockers and ensure tooling and training is available to the team

- Contribute to the continuous improvement by supporting and coaching the team and improving the quality standards and efficiency of delivery

- Build awareness of internal and external technology developments, managing the delivery of process and system improvements

- Advocate and help ensure our architectures, designs and processes enhance a culture of operational safety and improve our digital security.

Desirable Education, Experience and Capability:

- Preferably a Bachelor's (or higher) degree, preferably in Computer Science, MIS/IT, Mathematics or a hard science.

- 13-17 years, with a minimum of 10-12 years of relevant experience. No prior experience in the energy industry required.

Required Criteria :

- Experience designing, planning, implementing, maintaining and documenting reliable and scalable data products in complex environments

- Exposure to adjacent domains such as platforms, storage, databases, etc.

- Experience in technologies across data lifecycle stages

- Understanding of modern development methodologies (Agile using Scrum and/or Kanban)

Preferred Criteria :

- Exposure to one or more object-oriented programming languages (e.g. Python, Java, C++)

- Requirements Definition and Management

- Availability Management process, operations and task.

- Data Platform Delivery & management, inc. data hubs, ETL and data ingestion, storage and repository maintenances, data publishing and consumption.

- Release and Deployment including building and testing

- Exposure to one or more object-oriented programming languages (e.g. Python, Java, C++)

- Exposure to cloud technologies in AWS/Azure and relevant data analytics offerings

- Understanding of ETL mappings or data visualizations products (Power BI/Tableau) would be added advantage

- Exposure to data modelling like exploratory analysis, inferential analytics, decision tree, random forest would be an advantage although not mandatory
