SPARC Associate - Constituency Development Advisor to Member of Parliament (1-6 yrs)

SPARC (Supporting Parliamentarians on Analysis and Research in Constituency) is a program initiated by Swaniti Initiative, Tata Trusts and Constitution Club of India. As part of the program, an Associate will be placed with a Member of Parliament for a period of one year to catalyze development in his/ her constituency and provide critical research support. The program supports 20 MPs, which include Mr. Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Mr. Anurag Thakur, Mr. Dinesh Trivedi, Mr. Kalikesh N. Singh Deo, Dr. Heena Gavit, among others.

The specific roles and responsibilities of a SPARC Associate may vary with the Constituency allocated and each day during the Program would be different. However, each Associate will be expected to deliver the following:

I. Catalyze Constituency Level Programs: The Associate will be assigned specific development projects for their respective MPs that they will be expected to complete during their tenure. The Associate's responsibilities might range from conceptualizing to launching a program. Associate will be expected to work in partnership with the MPs office and local stakeholders.

II. Bridge the Knowledge Gap: The Associate will be expected to provide critical research support to the Parliamentarian. This might include a brief on recently launched government schemes or a detailed research note on a specific development approach. The Associate will be expected to work with primary research sources and Swaniti team to develop such knowledge documents.

The Associate will focus only on issues of development and will not be involved in any capacity in any political activity or campaign. In order to create most developmental impact within a short amount of time, the Associate will focus on areas of health, education, gender, water & sanitation and livelihood.

The Associates will be paid a stipend of INR 40,000 per month, without tax deductions. The logistics and accommodation for the Associates in the Constituency will be provided by the office of the Member of Parliament.
