The Role: Director of Software Development

The Location: Gurgaon

Grade: 13 A

The Team: You will be working with a team consisting of a diverse talent working on various technologies in the areas of UI frameworks, Middle Tier APIs, backend database development and Big Data solutions with strong DevOps culture. A team is located in Gurgaon.

The Impact: You will be a key member of software engineering leadership in India focused on delivering and maintaining the key projects that drive the organizational strategy. You collaborate with the leaders in India and abroad proactively to understand the technology strategy and provide technical guidance to Agile teams for delivering high-quality software. You strive for operational excellence by quickly recognizing and remediating the skill, process and infrastructural gaps in delivering the software.

Solutions & Delivery

Job Responsibilities:

- Takes ownership for the projects across multiple scrum teams

- Champion Agile practices and methodologies

- Fosters a culture of quality, Innovation and client focus with-in the Technology Organization

- Mentors scrum teams to come-up with state of the art designs and solutions aligning to the technology strategy

- Proactively identifies and remediates the delivery risks for the projects

- Participates and collaborates with Centers of Excellence to promote best practices

- Drives initiatives to evangelize and adopt new technologies around Cloud, DevOps and Automation

- Work with Functional & Technology head in India to contribute to the strategy and direction of the function in India

- Collaborates with other function leads and work towards common goals of the organization

- Builds strong DevOps Culture in the Technology Organization

- Participates or Leads the internal and external technology programs representing S&P Global brand in India

Talent & People:

- Work with the Department Head in Workforce Planning: Hiring, Onboarding, objectives setting, talent reviews, performance evaluation, compensation & promotion decisions

- Harness S&P Global as a preferred brand for Technology Talent in India for Software Development

- Provide leadership depth by mentoring people to become independent in delivering projects, stakeholder expectation management & communication

- Create and promote the culture that values diversity, inclusion, fairness, transparency and integrity across Technology Organization in India

- Ensure consistency & execution excellence throughout employee life-cycle with open and transparent communication.

- Identify and retain top talent

Basic Qualifications:

What we- re looking for:

- 10+ Years of overall experience in Software Development and leadership preferably in product based organizations

- 5 years of leadership experience owning multiple projects and teams

- 5 Years of Software design and implementation experience

- 2 years of hands on experience in designing and building scalable and secured APIs

- Must have in-depth understanding of .Net framework, Web API and architectural patterns for building distributed applications

- Must have strong knowledge of at least one relational database systems like SQL Server, Oracle or PostgreSQL

- Must have strong people skill including recruiting, retaining and managing top notch talent

Preferred Qualifications

- Good to have working experience in one or more distributed databases like Cassandra, Hbase, MongoDB or any Graph database

- Good to have to the web and desktop UI technologies, including WPF, JQuery, Angular & Durandal JS

- Good to have Knowledge of AWS services for hosting APIs/Web applications

- Good to have an understanding of data science, machine learning, and AI.

- Bachelors/Masters degree in Computer Science
