Software Development Manager - eCommerce (8-15 yrs)

Amazon's Browser Integration team is looking for an experienced, innovative, results-oriented Software Development Manager to lead a team of software and web development engineers in Bangalore. We are building browser-based app platforms that make Amazon products and services available on virtually all the web enabled devices and corresponding services for powering these app platforms. We are a fast growing multi-billion dollar revenue channel for Amazon. We own and maintain Amazon's official app in the Windows, Chrome, Firefox, Opera, IE and other tablet/browser app stores.

As a manager of our Browser Tech team in Bangalore, you will own the development of our flagship product - The Amazon 1Button App. You'll lead a talented team of software engineers to implement innovative and cutting edge strategies across our whole stack and lead projects that involve expansion of our existing app platform, services and features, adding new services and features like Notifications, Personalized Apps and expansion to new platforms like Mobile, TVs, Game Consoles.

- You should be an experienced engineering manager with expertise in building internet-scale applications and working with cutting edge web technologies.

- You should be a strong leader who can prioritize well, communicate clearly and compellingly and who understands how to drive a high level of focus and excellence with a strong team.

- You should have a proven ability to design and deliver infrastructure and processes to ensure robustness of a technical service in the face of failure around it. You should also have experience leading multiple teams with one or more teams being remotely located.

Key Responsibilities:

- Develop and execute roadmaps of our platforms.

- Manage day-to-day activities of the engineering teams using Agile/Scrum methodology.

- Manage team resources: hire, mentor, and grow the engineering team.

- Work closely with engineers to architect and develop the best technical solutions. Be a hands-on technical leader.

- Report on status of development, quality, operations, and system performance to management.

Basic Qualifications :

- Bachelor's degree in mathematics, computer science, or related field

- 8+ years of relevant engineering experience

- 5+ years of experience managing a software development team, and a proven track record of shipping software on time

- Experience with building robust and large scale web applications.

- Experience with building internet-scale distributed systems

- Strong at Java, C++, or comparable programming language

- Strong written and verbal communication.
