VP Finance / Finance Controller

Company Profile

The Portfolio Company is a young, high growth startup operating in the consumer/subscription space and is based out of Bangalore, India

Position Overview

Snow Leopard is looking to hire an individual for the role of VP Finance / Controller, to manage and oversee the day-to-day financial affairs of the Portfolio Company and to work closely with the Company's CFO

Duties & Responsibilities

Accounts -

1. Manage company's accounts internally with Tally or other ERP and coordination with external accountants

2. Review and finalization of accounts, taxation

3. Coordination with internal and statutory auditors and annual closure of accounts

4. Creation and monitoring of process and internal controls

5. Cash flow management - managing liabilities to match company's cash flows

6. Vendor payments and relations

7. Receivable management

8. Maintaining vouchers for all payments

Taxes / Indirect Taxes / Other -

1. Review and compliance with Direct and Indirect tax laws

2. Regular filing of appropriate tax returns

3. Supervise/coordinate and review secretarial compliance

4. Maintaining all records for audit and compliance purpose and maintain corporate governance standards

Budgets / MIS -

1. Design, and manage MIS reporting to management and investors

2. Prepare annual operating plans and budgets and track progress/expense as per the budgets

3. Create outputs to quickly analyze the performance of the business

4. Convert the data from ERP into MIS monthly information statements for summaries of the business- performance to be shared with investors

Dashboard / Analytics -

1. Create an internal dashboard for internal analytics with key metrics displayed, track over time

2. Cohort analysis

3. Create an external dashboard for external analytics to be shares with select investors

4. Work with product and technology team for piecing this together

Projections / Valuations -

1. Build financial projections model with top of funnel down to net income, cash flow and balance sheet

2. Monthly projections model

3. Do valuations through various methods such as DCF, multiples, etc. and create valuation report; be comfortable with subjective and objective areas of valuation

Fund Raising / Investor Relations -

1. Manage relationship with company's investors, lenders, advisors, etc.

2. Provide updates and MIS to investors on a selective basis in a timely manner

3. Engage and handle conversations with potential new investors

4. Prepare required fundraising materials, model, analytics

5. Be able to maintain confidentiality between interested parties

Other -

1. Responsibility for the preparation of presentation and marketing materials, and management and board of directors- presentations as well as external investor fundraising materials

Education and Experience

1. Top 15% ranking throughout academic career at top-tier schools in India or abroad with transcript records available

2. CA/CMA/MBA

3. At least 5 - 7 years of experience from a top-tier investment banking firm, leading corporate, multi-national corporation with relevant experience

Knowledge and Skills

1. A strong understanding of the Indian ecosystem; prior experience at another high growth startup over multiple years (more than 1) is good

2. Strong industry knowledge, analytical skills, interpersonal people skills, and communication skills

3. Extremely strong grasp of written and spoken English, both grammatically and colloquially

4. Extremely hard working, proactive individual looking to build a long-term career

5. Interests outside of work should place value on a healthy lifestyle

6. High degree of intellectual curiosity

7. Team player with ability to work in small groups

8. Strong ability to format and model in excel with extremely fast grasp of shortcut key combinations

9. Strong understanding of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint

11. Understanding of social media and its implications
