Director - Engineering Team

Responsibilities - Looking for talented and experience Engineering Director who shall be able to design and implement scalable, robust, real-time Infrastructure to support fast moving E-commerce site. You must have a talent for solving complex problems, and architecting and implementing new solutions; while being equally talented at understanding and supporting a complex business-critical production environment.

- As part of the leadership team, the technology leader would be integral to defining and shaping the organization's future technology vision. Leveraging his or her business skills, previous experience, and relationship management skills the candidate will assess the current technology state, evaluate options, and provide a roadmap for technology investment.

- The individual must have a good understanding of large scale distributed systems and have the proven ability to translate product requirements into engineering artifacts and to work closely with senior engineers and architects to align the design to meet functional, performance and scalability requirements.

- The individual should have significant experience in planning and delivering on product requirements using agile methodologies, and in managing a bunch of very smart engineers and keeping them highly motivated.

Skills Required - 

- Experience with Multi-Services architecture - Spring Cloud or Finagle using JAVA.

- Expertise in multiple platforms, including Linux and related Open Source platform technologies E.g. High Availability DBs, caching such as MemCache/Redis, Security, Failover, Replication, Load Balancing, API management etc

- Have worked in some of following Big Data technologies - MongoDB/CouchDB, Redis/MemCache, Cassandra/Aerospike, Hadoop, Hbase, Hive

- Expertise in Dev practice such as Continuous Integration, deployment automation, deployment via version control, continuous Deployment

- Self-motivated, capable of working with limited supervision

- Adaptable. The role requires a willingness to take on tasks outside of a narrowly defined role, and ideally a desire to be multi-skilled

- Good understanding of large scale storage systems including key-value stores

- Good understanding of Agile and test-driven development.

Good to have

- Experience with building systems at very large enterprise scale or at consumer Internet scale

- Understanding of large-scale distributed systems and big data systems (e.g. Hadoop)

- Expertise in leading teams that have delivered large system implementations

- Demonstrated leadership in at least some of the technologies that are core to Snapdeal's tech products (distributed systems, cloud computing, supply chain systems, databases, web services, multi-tier client-server architectures, business intelligence, data analytics, enterprise applications, mobile devices, and communications protocols)

- Analytical skills: complexity, capacity planning, performance engineering, statistics and data analysis

- Strong verbal and written communication skills coupled with demonstrated prior leadership within large teams.

Education & Experience

- B.Tech in Computer Science or related technical field from Tier-I college(Preferred)

- 13+ Years of Experience with significant exposure in building highly scalable and high-performance online and applying various design patterns.

- Strong foundation in computer science, with strong competencies in data structures, algorithms and software design.

- Strong prior experience in software development domain and principles, including design patterns, code structure, programming languages, continuous integration, and deployment architecture.

- Expertise in designing, building and maintaining complex high volume applications.
