SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

- HSE Lead is responsible for providing site safety leadership, ensuring facility compliance with corporate safety standards, implementing safety directives, improving safety performance, and ensuring facility safety policies and procedures are aligned with required regulations.

- Oversee all the activities performed by contractors and suppliers and support in enforcing site HSE rules and regulations

- Develop training and audit/inspection tools to support robust HSE program. Support specific HSE processes and procedures in support of company-wide initiatives and direction. Develop programs specifically designed to improve site HSE provision.

- Develop and implement plans, processes and procedures to ensure conformance with regulatory and where appropriate ISO 14001 & OHSAS 18001 certifications and company requirements and initiatives at office, service center, site maintenance offices & project sites.

- Emphasize on safety as part of quality inspection / adherence of the parts and equipment sourced from domestic market

SPECIFIC DUTIES, ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

- Support Country Service Head, Program Managers, APAC HSE Manager and Managing Director in developing, implement and monitor site HSE Policy, Programs, and Procedures

- To ensure compliance with current Environment, Health and Safety legislation and/or regulations with the objective of ensuring that all reasonable and proper measures are taken to protect the safety and health of employees

- To increase health, safety and wellness awareness at all levels within the organization through training, briefing and other communication tools

- To assist Country Service Head in initiating new activity that raises staffs awareness and inculcates safe work culture at maintenance & project sites.

- To review reports on near misses, incidents and audits at sites and office, investigate and resolve issues and update Leadership team

- To perform regular safety tour and lead for monthly safety tours

- To establish budget proposal for the operation of HSE including specific training program, security operations

- To investigate and report on complaints of hazardous working conditions and to respond to employees safety concerns

- To coordinate for site inspection and visit by local authority, external agencies, HSE consultants as may be necessary

- To act as liaison with all related governmental bodies and regulating agencies including AERB & BIS

- To coordinate for HSE training as planned and conduct internal HSE awareness training where necessary and safety brief for new staffs, visitors and vendors

- Coordinate for site HSE program and activity and also lead the emergency response team during emergencies situation

- Support in maintaining ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 management system certification

- Update HSE performance data accordingly and work on the analysis to ensure HSE objectives and target are achieved.

- Support 5S activity for the company and perform periodic 5S audit and follow up the progress

- Responsible for providing an appropriate access and protecting the confidentiality and integrity of an organization and its related policies and standard operating procedures.

- Assist APAC HSE Manager to develop security policies and implement security policies, protocols and procedures to ensure safety and security for employees and protection of company properties

- Provide report to Country Service Head on security status and propose for continuous improvement Special projects assigned from time to time.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Education/Training: Degree or Diploma in Engineering / Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Engineering, or a related technical discipline is required.

Experience: 10 years HSE experience plus strong working knowledge of HSE regulations and requirements. Working knowledge of ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 HSE management systems is preferred.

Knowledge/Skills: Demonstrated commitment to the highest professional ethical standards. Strong commitment to company objectives and individual performance. Excellent verbal, written communication skills and strong interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability in managing projects in a matrix environment. Collaborative management/working style. Ability to challenge and debate issues of importance and look at situations from multiple points of view Ability to delegate and manage multiple responsibilities effectively. Fluent user of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access).

Supervises: No direct reports

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

- Ability to solve complex practical problems

- Deal with a wide variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists

- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form

- Ability to work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines

- Individual may be required to sit, stand, walk regularly and occasionally lift 0-10kg

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

- Work environment is typically considered an office environment located on-site, within a Smiths location during normal or extended business hours.

- Work environment may also include project sites, maintenance sites, employee's residence, customer site & meeting venues, or to other location as required.

- Will be required to travel to various project and maintenance sites across the country (up to 40% travel)

- Collaboration and co-ordination across global team would require, at times, to work during different time zones and remotely
