Head of Credit Services GDC - Silicon Valley Bank growth trajectory necessitates the expansion of credit resources to the bank's Bangalore Global Delivery Center (GDC). This includes both the insourcing of the current credit data processing function from external partners as well as the expansion related to existing US-based credit functions including portfolio analytics, credit operations, and entrepreneurial initiatives that bring new scalability/efficiency. Credit Services in the GDC for insourced functions primarily involve credit data processing and portfolio management activities (monitoring client reporting, client financial data spreading, covenant calculations, leverage lending calculations) that powers portfolio reporting for lending teams as well as external reporting. To support these efforts, an experienced leader is needed to build and lead the Credit Services team in SVB's GDC in Bangalore. The person in this role will need to possess superior leadership capabilities, an innovative and strategic mindset, internal relationship development skills, solid communication skills, and be accretive to Silicon Valley Bank's culture. - Candidate will perform activities required to grow and lead Credit Services in the GDC. This leader is tasked with developing management and production teams for credit functions. These functions support the bank's overall growth goals with an eye towards safety and soundness as well as driving innovation with automation tools and technology. The right individual will create a culture of innovation that develops efficient/accurate processes, procedures and controls for sound execution, and has an expanded skill set that is applied to resolve any complex, moderate or non-routine issues related to Credit Services and team management. Additionally, candidate will be responsible for working with partners across the global organization to transform/design new credit functions and such decisions will be implemented/reflected in India. Credit Function Development and Growth : - Set vision for GDC Credit Services in line with the overall global organization goals - Work with U.S. leadership to develop strategic and achievable initiatives with well-defined short and long-term business objectives for the Credit function - Lead and drive innovation in the development and implementation of strategies, tools, policies, processes, automation, and controls - Develop, mentor, and lead a team of direct and indirect reports and efficiently run service delivery - Strengthen relationship with global partners and leadership - Promote a strong culture as established by the U.S. and India leadership within the team Issue Mitigation and Resolution : - Develop methods and processes to proactively monitor performance of the team to identify issues proactively - Be responsible and lead with integrity in the management of risks that impact the GDC team and overall business and operations - Overall, supervise and ensure all the credit related controls are getting appropriately enforced, measured, monitored, and addressed as per the regulatory and credit risk policies - Develop impactful strategies to resolve blocking issues from team managers Quality and Compliance : - Ensure high level of quality and accuracy of services adhering to all service levels - Maximize the functionality of SVB tools and systems to support portfolio management including Moody's Credit Lens spreading software, nCino loan underwriting platform, and iMX loan system, among others. - Ensure timely and accurate delivery of relevant reports (e.g., counterparty credit and country risk reports), portfolio reports and dashboards - Ensure the delivery of management and Board reports, SEC, other regulatory and financial reports - Conduct governance meetings with the U.S. leadership Leading and Driving Innovation : - Develop and implement initiatives targeted to improve business unit performance and productivity including continuously improving and automating processes for efficiency. - Create an environment that inspires creative thinking, innovation, and motivation, playing an active role in coaching and development of team - Drive improvements in Credit Services and provide guidance to teams on developing efficient, scalable solutions - Identify and drive opportunities on business enablement and adoption of emerging technology-based products and capabilities in partnership with cross-functional business teams - Build relationships with internal/external partners, collaborate effectively to resolve disputes and undertake special projects as assigned by the management - Routinely make decisions and demonstrate high levels of discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance Qualifications - External IDEAL EXPERIENCE : Skills : - Strong understanding of credit analysis and policies - Solid background in commercial lending - Excellent interpersonal and supervisory skills - Experienced internal and external business leader - Proven ability to set strategy, targets and achieve desired results - Ability to be flexible with shift timings (2 pm - 11 pm) Competencies : - Accountability, working with integrity in all interactions while striving for excellence - Process design and application of automation technologies - Attention to detail - Effective leadership skills to develop and motivate a high performing team - Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to communicate at all levels of the organization - Excellent presentation, analytical, and problem-solving skills Education and certifications: - A degree in business administration in either Finance, Business, Economics, Mathematics / Statistics - Professional qualifications e.g. CA /CFA / FRM preferable - Preferred - CCRA(Certified Credit Research Analyst) / CCE (Certified Credit Examiner) Experience: - Deep expertise and 15+ years of experience in credit domain - Deep experience in credit support functions, loan origination, and financial analysis - Good knowledge of counterparty credit risk, global lending policy, procedures and systems - Preferred - Experience with commercial financial statement monitoring software, credit origination systems and other standard banking/credit tools preferred - Exposure to credit risk modeling
