Silicon Valley Bank - Associate Director - Model Development & Management (12-16 yrs)

The primary function of this role is to support the Corporate Treasury team and establish business excellence through robust model build, Validation, implementation, ongoing monitoring and control methodologies across all business portfolios. This involves Model development for market, Credit and Interest risk but not limited to Value at Risk models, and/or pricing and valuation models primarily for CCAR/DFAST.

This role is expected to work simultaneously on multiple projects, gathers, examine, and analyze data using analytical and modelling tools (like SAS, R), apply statistical knowledge, business, judgement and problem solving skills to deliver solutions in line with business & senior management expectations both in terms of quality and agreed timelines..

Delivery Management :

- Lead core Model Development, validation, and review management for PPNR Modeling, Scorecard Development, Economic capital modeling, BASELIII /CCAR reporting norms involving testing, benchmarking, and robust documentation.

- Model risk Management including conceptual soundness, critical assessment of the testing performed by the model developers to support the integrity and accuracy of the model

- Working on multiple projects across various banking products and applying predictive analytics in building scorecards and loss forecasting models

- Extensive tactical data analysis and model development for bank's engagements using a variety of programming languages; Analyzing data using statistical languages like SAS and UNIX

- Serving as subject matter authority on financial and statistical markets model development and implementation expertise

Leadership and People management:

- Define talent/skill needs and resource requirement keeping in mind process evolution and emerging technologies

- Provide clear definition of roles, responsibilities, individual goals, and performance objectives for the team

- Provide regular, constructive feedback to maximize positive impact of individual team member's talent

- Contribute to hiring and talent management strategy and policies for GDC

Stakeholder management:

- Interaction with key members of the Risk and Finance organizations, as well as key stakeholders across business units that use the output of the PPNR models for capital, business and strategic decisions

- Accountable for effective communication of issues across the GDC and working groups

- Manage onshore stakeholders, providing periodic updates and contribute to periodic communications like Debrief, Dashboards, KPIs etc.

- Work closely with:

- HR in Staffing, people initiatives and attrition management

- Transformation team on Process Improvement Initiatives and ensuring seamless migration

- Technology team on automation / digitization initiatives for the process

Experience Requirement :

- 12+ years of relevant experience Liquidity risk analytics & modelling with an understanding of RWA, provision/ capital forecasting and portfolio management techniques

- Stress testing, CCAR, DFAST, IFRS9/PPNR Models, Credit Risk Modeling or equivalent exposure

- Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements such Basel III and CCAR guidelines with experience in various model validation tests like sample backtesting, sensitivity analysis (Macroeconomic scenario-based stress testing), contribution analysis etc.

- Understanding of key Treasury processes like Treasury products Working Capital, Managing FX Risks etc.

- Experience of working within the Banking/ Financial services industry

Skill Set :

- Advanced Statistical software skills (e.g. SAS,R) and Microsoft Office applications is mandatory

- Strong analytical, numerical, research and problem-solving skills

- Experience of working in a GDC/ GIC set up for a large to medium organization

- Excellent written and spoken communications skills

- Able to interact with internal/ external stakeholders and ensure interactions are of a high quality of service

- Efficient and well organized, able to work under tight deadlines

- Outstanding attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to multitask

- Ability to be flexible with job duties, shift timings (3:30 pm to 12:30 am IST) and scope of work

- Proven capability to work independently without hand holding and exercising sound judgment & initiative
