Job Description: Intellectual Property Lead

SigTuple is looking for an energetic, self-directed and articulate individual to manage its intellectual property wing - working both with outside counsel as well as scientists, engineers and senior management to develop and maintain our strong IP portfolio. The position is responsible for assisting to improve SigTuple's impact through it's intellectual property portfolio. This includes implementing, maintaining and continuously improving project and knowledge management systems and documentation, providing expert advice critically analysing invention disclosures. The role will also use innovative and engaging communication methods to leverage knowledge, develop mutually productive collaborations, accurately report on the outputs and impact of research generating commercial interest and government and support.

The position works closely with the Head of Products and the top leadership of the company to identify the emerging new innovation for intellectual property protection and technology translation.

Responsibilities

- Develop and oversee the SigTuple's intellectual property strategy on hardware, software and processes.

- Primary responsibility for managing communications with, and directing the activities of, outside counsel; actively assist in preparing, filing, and prosecuting domestic and foreign patent applications, including preparing arguments in response to office actions.

- Provide guidance to senior management on licensing and business transactions involving intellectual property; including ability to prepare patentability and freedom-to-operate opinions in collaboration with outside counsel, as necessary.

- Review and prepare freedom-to-operate opinions in collaboration with outside counsel, as necessary, in relation to new product ideas and developments coming from the research group.

- Advise senior management on any new laws, regulations or statutes affecting the Company's intellectual property.

- Work with IP counterparts to review, approve and budget IP expenditure. Manage expenses to budget.

Requirements:

- A minimum of 5 years- experience managing the preparation and prosecution of patent applications and the conduction of patentability and freedom-to-operate searches, either in a private organization, technology transfer office or academia across India, US, Europe and APAC.

- Ability to develop strategic plans necessary to provide a strong IP position for the Company's products and clearly articulate those plans to senior management.

- Strong advocacy skills in connection with patent prosecution.

- Proven ability to handle multiple projects and effectively manage priorities so as to meet tight deadlines.

- Independent and self-motivated, with a strong sense of urgency and ability to drive a project to completion.

- Excellent oral and written communication skills - must be able to communicate clearly both within the organization and externally to drive projects forward.

- Collaborative personality with strong interpersonal skills.
